According to Marxism, while Prostituion could be viewed as a symptom of capitalist exploitation, it is still a direct extension of the general commodification of human labor under capitalism, especially since it involves both the prostitute and the buyer (the client or capitalist).
So in essence, prostitution is inextricably linked to private property. Which means that sex work in general should be abolished, and is most definitely not something Marx or Engels would consider "real work".
