“This is the decade of the brain”, #ARUKConf24 opened by Prof Chandran, Director of @UKDRI. Prof Chandran shared his extensive experience and knowledge on the importance of translating scientific insight into therapeutic impact.
There is a call to ensure that those in the early stages of dementia and those with mild cognitive impairment have access to new interventions, as they are an important cohort for drug trial design.
As Prof Chandran noted, these new therapies are about “adding life to years”. #DementiaResearch

Fantastic panel discussion on Person Public Involvement (#PPI) in dementia research at the Alzheimer's Research UK conference. When asked to consider any challenges they experienced on being a #PPI Contributor, panelist Gary stressed how important it is to not underestimate people living with dementia, that “with a little bit of help and prompting, we can get through.”
