Coming back here to pin this. This is my last post here. Come find me on BlueSky if you're interested. I'll be talking the same public health, books, poker, Twolves—just without as many trolls or Nazis responding. Cheers! bsky.app/profile/fivebfive.b…

I have said before: we are living through the biggest mass delusion in the history of mankind. And if you don't think so, you're part of the delusion.

I’m confused, isn’t Desantis already there?

You could see Covid-19 as an empathy test. Who was prepared to suffer disruption and inconvenience for the sake of others, and who was not? My column on the massive, ongoing, yet denied and minimised impacts of the virus. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

I started a Substack. It may go nowhere, but given the Twitter decline, it could be useful. It'll be a (very!) sporadic mix of public health, climate science, pop and book stuff, and a little poker. I get this question a lot so I decided to write about it: fivebyfive55.substack.com/p/…
This may be my final Tweet. But I did get one last email in to [email protected] that I felt like sharing.
Here's the first official communication from Twitter's new leadership to its staff, a week after Musk took over: a fun game where you get to find out if you're laid off or not based by 9am tomorrow, based on whether the email pops up in your Twitter account or personal account.
I got turned into a comic! All exclamation points aside, this is a conversation I wish more outlets would engage in, so a million thank yous to @GuardianJessica for putting together this series. Long COVID alters your life in unimaginable ways. Stay safe out there, folks.

The notion that the only people who haven't caught COVID-19 so far are "superdodgers" with genetic mutations is infuriating to me. I think it should be upsetting to you, too, and I'd like to explain why. I've never caught COVID. I intend to try to never catch it.

There isn't a shred of decency or humanity in Ron DeSantis, and after this, none in any who continue to stand by and support him.

Every infection matters and the let it rip/live with it/it’s mild minimizing is going to leave an ugly legacy. This sums it up “The severity of initial infection doesn’t matter when we talk about long-term sequelae that ruin people’s lives.” washingtonpost.com/health/20…
Thank you Bao...It's been an honor and treat to work with you for these last 12 years! Thanks for all you've done for me, for this community, and for the Loft! GL 🍀!
End of an era. Bao Phi exiting the Loft with his last box. He leaves behind a first EQ program, a fax cover sheet from the previous Loft home, and an impossible to measure (and somehow still building) legacy. We'll miss you dearly! Good luck and great things at @McKnightFdn

The only way to get ever-evolving Covid under control is through a globally available, immunity-providing vaccine. Nasal vaccines could deliver, but they need more support. Contact your local congressperson and ask them what they're doing to support these. science.org/doi/10.1126/scii…
