“When the brain understands a win will follow the effort, the reward center activates, and you actually start enjoying the process.”
Do hard things. Enjoy the process. Repeat.
This also means we need to reframe what a win is.
Hard workout = win
Intense practice = win
Not drinking = win
Learning something new = win

Anyone can do what they like or want to do.
The separator is being able to do what you don’t want to do.
That’s why you should be most proud of yourself for the workout you really didn’t want to do or that hard conversation that you know will be really uncomfortable but you have it anyway.
Start this week by knocking out something small you don’t want to do, and then build on it.
You’ll be shocked how much easier those hard things become to accomplish.

You may have seen me post about holistic wellness before, but it’s something that we at @rev_sp want to emphasize more going forward.
Our motto is “Person first, athlete second,” and to truly live that out, we want to make sure that every athlete is improving physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Fasting is a beautiful example of how all 4 parts are connected.
Physically- our body purges the waste and bad cells when we fast.
Spiritually- we weaken our fleshly desires by relying on prayer and God to be our strength throughout the day instead of food.
Mentally- it’s uncomfortable and hard and healthy. Anything that checks those 3 boxes is highly beneficial for your mental health because you’re overcoming a hard obstacle.
Emotionally- lean into your support system. Connecting and relying on God will always improve your emotional health. If you are fasting with others, then there is a huge added bonus of community.
