As much as the thought of Pujols getting his MLB managing start in Houston gives me heartache, I'm intrigued by the idea of Molina. Experience managing in the WBC, the Venezuelan league, and the Puerto Rican league. Former catcher, AKA field manager. There is a lot to like.
Full story on the Astros' hiring Randy Flores after a 68-day GM search that initially focused on someone else and, now, leaves Flores with a lot to do in very little time. Free and unlocked - nytimes.com/athletic/7740271…
It *feels* like as Astros fans, we should probably chill out on this GM hire. Flores was a sought after candidate by more than just Houston. Everybody got attached to the Kleine name, but which of us knew who these guys were three weeks ago? I know I didn't.
Let's be clear - we managed to avoid what I would consider doomsday scenarios including Ausmus and Rizzo. This doom and gloom over an unknown is for the birds. We have no proof that Flores will be any worse than Kleine, or any other candidate for that matter.
Damn. Lost a legend. Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick.

I feel strangely good about this *potential* GM decision
Milwaukee Brewers executive Matt Kleine is the focus of the Astros’ GM search, multiple sources tell @TheAthletic. No deal has been finalized or agreed upon, but Kleine is the Astros’ choice - nytimes.com/athletic/7712356…
Between this and the Colts trades (so far) half the AFC South is waving the white flag. The division is dog mess again. And yet, I will still watch the Texans. Because I can't quit them. And a small part of me hasn't given up on this season yet. I know. I'm that guy.
Breaking: The Titans are trading All-Pro DT Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Chicago Bears, sources tell @AdamSchefter and @RapSheet.
Tennessee will receive 2027 and 2028 first-round picks and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
That they had to throw 65 innings across 12 games isn't the dunk that it appears to be. Starters only going an average of 4 innings (+/-) across the board says as much about the rotation outside of Mis as it does their bullpen. Just saying.
Not only this, but the two teams switching leagues are indirectly (I would contend directly) tied to one another thanks to one of the worst commissioners in recent MLB history, Bud Selig.
So in this decade we've had the Houston Astros who started in the NL and won a pennant in the NL win the World Series as an AL team and now we have seen a team (the Brewers) that started in the AL and won a pennant in the AL win a World Series in the NL. Say that five times fast @annoyingastros

With the Brewers winning the World Series at Tropicana Field, the 2022 Astros remain the only team to win a title at their home ballpark since the 2013 Red Sox
OK. But seriously, I'm happy for the Brewers. But Bud Selig can pound sand. He moved the Brewers into the NL, created unbalanced leagues, and forced the Astros to move to the AL in order for the sale to go through from McClane to Crane.
