Think those injuries are going to hurt us today but hoping I’m proved wrong. Down to the bare bones today, hopefully a few back for next weekend #swfc
Good luck Dave 🤍💙🤍🦉 #swfc
Sheffield Wednesday Football Club can confirm that an agreement was reached last night for Dave Challinor to become the club's new First-Team Manager.
The 51-year-old will be in attendance at today's fixture against Blackpool at Hillsborough.
The club looks forward to formally introducing Dave to supporters on Monday, when further details of the appointment will be announced.
Certain players feeling frustrated by the exit of Pedersen and voicing their concerns over Challinor. Is it because he wouldn’t be their mate? We need someone who is going to ruffle a few feathers and get this squad playing as a team with a clear style of play #swfc
Wonder how many fans turned round and didn’t make it to the match last night due to the horrendous traffic from Sheffield to the ground. We got into the stadium bang on ko but in laws arrived at half time. #swfc
Come on. Let’s get behind Matty Hamshaws barmy army . It’s half time, it’s not raining and the boys need backing #swfc
We've had six consecutive league attendances over 30,000 👏
Can we make it seven for the first time since 1953!?
Let's make some history tonight, Owls!

Whatever the results and performances have been, Pederson deserves respect for sticking by us last season , even when not being paid. Good luck to you and your family in whatever the future holds for you #swfc
Had to be done. Some of the early results papered over some alarming cracks . Last 2 away performances were abysmal. Important and right appointment now needed #swfc
Sheffield Wednesday Football Club confirms that Henrik Pedersen has left the club with immediate effect.
Henrik led the first team through an exceptional period in the club's history, providing stability and leadership during a time of significant uncertainty and change.
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Henrik for his contribution and wishes him every success in the future.
Sporting Director Simon Wilson said: “First and foremost, I want to thank Henrik for his professionalism, commitment and contribution during an exceptionally challenging period for Sheffield Wednesday.
“We knew the start of this season would be difficult due to the scale of change across the club, but our expectation was always that we would develop as the season progressed, establishing a recognisable style of play and greater consistency in our performances.
“Although we have accumulated points, we haven’t seen enough progress in those areas. We believe making a change now gives us the best opportunity to establish those foundations and build towards the second half of the season and beyond.
“We remain ambitious about what we can achieve this campaign, and our focus remains on building a Sheffield Wednesday team with a clear identity, capable of delivering sustained improvement and long-term success.”
Matt Hamshaw will take interim charge of the first team while the club undertakes the process of appointing its next Head Coach.
The club will provide further updates when appropriate.
One year since we went into administration and finally got rid of the parasite killing OUR club. Today Doncaster away and my youngest lads 1st away game. We probably don’t all realise how close we were to not having a club to follow home and away #swfc

Club statement: 21 October, 2026
Sheffield Wednesday is aware of racist abuse directed towards the family of one of our players on social media following last night’s fixture.
We stand unequivocally with our player and his family, who have the club’s complete support.
Racism is abhorrent. It has no place in football or in society, and we condemn this abuse in the strongest possible terms.
The comments have been reported to the relevant authorities, with whom we will work to ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable.
This is not the first incident of its kind involving our players, staff and their families this season. The continued targeting of individuals and their loved ones is utterly unacceptable.
Only last weekend, we stood alongside the EFL in supporting its Together Against Racism campaign. Incidents such as this reinforce why collective action and meaningful consequences remain so important.
There can be no tolerance, no excuses and no ambiguity when it comes to racism or discrimination of any kind.
Sheffield Wednesday will continue to stand with those affected and take the strongest possible action against anyone responsible for such abuse.
No excuses for this pathetic performance tonight. We’ve got away with it a number of times this season but not tonight. Surely arise see the same problems the fans are seeing #swfc
Wow: #swfc
Dish injured
Slattery booked again & misses 1 game
Lowe red card misses 3 games
Defensive masterclass by you know who
Tactics unimaginative
And losing 1-0 to a team with 1 win all season and injuries impacting their squad
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A 5-0 win and a long-standing attendance record equalled 👏
Not since the early 90s have we seen six consecutive league attendances over 30,000!
Not since the early 50s has there been seven..
🎫 Kids for a Quid, bring the family, back the boys and get this place rocking!

A moment to breathe and reflect 🦉
It’s been a whirlwind few months and start to our season! 🧵

We all know where we were last season and the threat of having no club was a reality but it doesn’t mean we can’t have an opinion this season especially when we are struggling to create chances and not even testing the opposition keeper (Bromley aside) #swfc
Having your 2 wingers sat on the bench from the start does not help, your top scorer out on the wing instead. Maybe play Morrison and Gray out wide Lowe up front with KDD and give heskey a role in midfield. A worrying lack of creating chances again Cooper MOTM for me today #swfc

Wednesday lost one of its most well-known fans this week in John Tompkins, landlord and friend to many ex-players.
A pleasure to speak to his daughter on a minute's applause, admin effort and running from his headteacher to support the Owls👇
