A guy told me that America's biggest aircraft carrier was Great Britain and we should play nice to keep it.
While I 100% agree that Great Britain is a fantastic airbase (among other virtues), our actual biggest aircraft carrier is Japan. Not only is it bigger than Britain, but it is actually closer to our real enemy. Who are we going to bomb from Britain that we can't already reach from Ramstein?
If Russia got angry and tried to attack Europe nowadays, Europe could stop Russia trivially without America's help. know not every European nation would contribute equally. Poland & the Baltic states could do the heavy lifting. But Russia would still be stopped. We even have allies with nukes over there.
If China started flexing, we have far fewer allies in the ara. Basically Japan, Good Korea, and Taiwan. Of those three, Japan is the most formidable.
Our best ally. Even if they don't have all-day Full English Breakfast. Agree?

In 1942, Franklin Roosevelt wrote Winston Churchill a letter with one of the most arrogant lines of the entire war:
"I think I can personally handle Stalin better than either your Foreign Office or my State Department."
He meant it. And three years later at Yalta, the world paid for it.
Roosevelt's whole strategy toward Stalin was to make him like him. His former ambassador to Moscow later said FDR told him that if he gave Stalin everything he could and asked for nothing back, Stalin would respond in kind and wouldn't try to annex anything.
He was talking about a man who had just starved millions of Ukrainians, purged his own officer corps, split Poland with Hitler, and shot 22,000 Polish officers in the Katyn Forest.
Roosevelt thought he could charm him.
It started at Tehran in 1943. FDR decided the way to break the ice with Stalin was to mock Churchill in front of him. He teased him about his Britishness, his cigars, his habits, until Stalin finally laughed. Roosevelt later bragged that this was the moment he and Stalin became friends. He called him "Uncle Joe."
Stalin wasn't making a friend. He was taking notes.
By Yalta in February 1945, Roosevelt was dying of heart failure. Stalin refused to leave Soviet territory, so the sick American president traveled 14,000 miles to meet him on his home turf. The Soviets put the Americans up in Livadia Palace. It was bugged. Stalin knew what Roosevelt's team was saying before he walked into the room.
And Roosevelt kept playing the same game. Before the conference even opened, he met privately with Stalin and made jokes at Britain's expense, telling him the British wanted to have their cake and eat it too. His closest wartime ally was frozen out so he could look good to a dictator.
Then he handed Stalin the most important piece of information in the entire conference.
He told him American troops would probably be out of Europe within two years.
Think about that from Stalin's side of the table. The only power on earth that could stop him had just told him it was going home.
Churchill fought for Poland. Britain had gone to war over Poland. But Roosevelt accepted a vague Soviet promise to "reorganize" Stalin's puppet government and hold free elections, with no real way to enforce it. Stalin signed the Declaration on Liberated Europe pledging democracy for Eastern Europe.
Then, with Churchill out of the room, Roosevelt gave Stalin the Kuril Islands, southern Sakhalin, a naval base at Port Arthur, and control of railways in Manchuria. All to get Soviet help against Japan. China, an American ally, wasn't even consulted.
Stalin broke his promises almost immediately.
Roosevelt figured it out too late. In late March 1945 he reportedly admitted Stalin had broken every promise he made at Yalta.
Two weeks later he was dead.
The man who was sure he could "handle" Stalin had been handled from the first handshake. He wanted Stalin to like him. Stalin wanted Eastern Europe. Only one of them got what he came for.
Poland's elections in 1947 were rigged. Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, East Berlin, Bucharest, and Sofia disappeared behind the Iron Curtain.
They wouldn't be free again until 1989.

I've written about this before. The older and more experienced a police force... the freer a nation will be.
The decision to hire these infants straight out of their indoctrination camps (schools and colleges) wasn't accidental.
The Australians have very clearly done the same thing, and whenever you encounter them, you can run rhetorical rings around them.
They are politically reliable in that they WILL attack a conservative protest, even one that is just voicing very traditionally Western values, like the right to free speech.
These babies learned in school that speech is severely policed. They will tremblingly withdraw in confusion from groups of foreigners, however, because they fear they will get into trouble for policing them, but when it comes to British natives, they will hammer them with zero guilt.

Lorry driver from Hull does every check, finds stowaways in the back after he’s already in the country, does the right thing and phones the police, then Border Force can still hit him with up to £10,000 per person
Driver and firm can both get done
A few in the trailer and you’re looking at tens of thousands. Leave the trailer unsecured and that’s another £6,000 on top. Call it in and you get billed
Keep quiet and they treat you like a smuggler, open the doors and let them run and you risk prison - Meanwhile boats come over by the hundred and the RNLI gets clapped for a “rescue.”
Same Channel, same arrivals, different rulebook
Working men get a five-figure fine for reporting it while the state ferry service gets a pat on the back
That is not border control - That is two-tier Britain, and they know exactly what they’re doing

I see the media are making a big song and dance of one arrest at the Portsmouth illegal migrant protest.
How many were arrested at Notting Hill carnival?
636.
No need for any further comment.

The threat level against the country continues to grow yet the Burnham government has told the British Army to cease major exercises with Challenger 2 tanks and Apache gunships to save money.
Our Bus-Conductor-in-Chief can find money for all sorts of gimmicks that allow him to play to the gallery. But not for essential defence spending. Unforgivable.
I remain as convinced as I was in 2024 that the Chagos Affair is the smoking gun of deep corruption at the heart of the British state.
This isn’t ineptitude. There is no legal or diplomatic reality to force this. What there is however is personal vested interests among many officials who stand to personally benefit. Example:
Philippe Sands is the lead lawyer for Mauritius. Philippe hired Kier Starmer at Matrix Chambers, catapulting Kier’s career. Kier therefore owes Philippe for his career. Philippe stands to gain significantly from the deal.
There are many other examples of officials whose reasons for pushing for handing the islands away make little sense.
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like and duck…chances are it is a duck.
This is deep corruption. One day it will be exposed.

🚨 72% of Britons say: let the Chagossians vote. 99% of Chagossians say: we want to stay British. The government's response? Push ahead anyway.
The Great British PAC is fighting back, in the courts, in Parliament and in the country. The Chagos surrender can still be stopped. ✊🇬🇧

I had a quick look at this.
The Gatehouse closed after its former owner died. A local community group then tried to buy it through its Asset of Community Value status, raising money to create a community-owned pub.
But the group lost out in what was described as a “blind sale”. The later planning application identifies Norwich Muslim Centre also known as Norfolk Muslim Community Association, charity number 1205465 as the applicant and claims sole ownership of the Grade II-listed building.
Row erupts over plans to turn Grade II-listed pub in leafy Norfolk suburb into a mosque - when there is one just half a mile away trib.al/EoQFkL3
