Singer-songwriter/producer Poo Bear speaks on writing “She Ain’t You” for Chris Brown, revealing that the song was inspired by his own ex and that, unfortunately, he only received 1% of the publishing. He also talks about writing “I Can Transform Ya” at a time when nobody wanted to work with Chris. 👀 “She Ain’t You” was released as the fourth single from Chris Brown’s Grammy-winning comeback album, “F.A.M.E”. Sampling both Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” and SWV’s remixed version of “Right Here”, it has sold over 2 million units in the United States alone. Poo Bear also has songwriting credits on Chris’ “Graffiti”, “Royalty”, and “Indigo” albums and has written for artists such as Usher, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Jill Scott, Ruben Studdard, 112, DJ Khaled, Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey, Kelly Rowland and more. I want to go deeper with the conversation one of these days but I feel like the anger issues DO exist and him and his team’s biggest misstep was not getting him continuous support. The attacks, the teasing, the name calling, it’s all been happening for 17 years now. It happens online, from his peers, large companies.. he’s been a target for MANY years. I think all of that lives somewhere in him, and nobody has helped him to ever manage it, and he hasn’t helped himself. He got right back out there and just started working again, and the inner work was never done.
It is very hard to heal and grow in an environment where people constantly remind you of your past. The effort he been doing is clearly for his kids and fans.

One of my favorite parts 🥺
Last year at the BreezyBowl Chris had a moment dedicated to his children. They saved him and change him for the better.

Focus on shared principles like individual liberty, equal opportunity under the law, and mutual respect for honest disagreement. Seek primary data and direct sources over partisan framing from any side. Practice civil debate that prioritizes evidence over emotion or identity. Strengthen local communities and voluntary associations where people cooperate on practical goals rather than national media-driven conflicts.

There’s a lot of truth in what he’s saying, even if people don’t appreciate the delivery. All these instagram likes, hit tweets, etc.. don’t equate to selling concert tickets. People have to want to hear and feel the music, and unfortunately a lot of these “new fans” have an obsession with the artist and not the art.
Jermaine Dupri says that artists blaming "terrible marketing" is pointless when they don't have any hits to draw people to their shows “Why y'all keep skipping around the real issue? Going on tour with no real hits, doing a show with subpar music, doesn't make people wanna come, this is the MUSIC BIZ, not the marketing business, the music is the driver, most of these artist are in Waymo's.”

the backgrounds on “Honey Pack” are so fire! CB could be singing about the kewchie and still going awf in the backgrounds 😅 . There’s a list of artists that truly understand the mechanics of background vocals.. and I love re-listening to songs and picking them apart.
