CMPDIL Organises Blood Donation Camp, Collects 153 Units of Blood CMPDIL organised a Blood Donation Camp at Rabindra Bhawan, CMPDI (HQ), Ranchi, on 28th October, 2026, as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, in coordination with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Gandhi Nagar Hospital and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi. The camp was jointly inaugurated by Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (T/P&D); Shri Anand Mohan, Director (T/RD&T, BD); Shri Pankaj Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), CMPDIL & CCL; and Shri R. K. Singh, Executive Director (Exploration), Coal India Limited (CIL). The camp witnessed an enthusiastic response, with 153 units of blood collected, reflecting the spirit of compassion, social responsibility and collective commitment to humanitarian service. CMD, CMPDI Visits Underground Coal Gasification R&D Pilot Plant at Kasta Block, Jharkhand Shri Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL), visited the Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) R&D Pilot Plant at Kasta Coal Block in Jamtara district, Jharkhand, under Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), on 28th October, 2026. During the visit, Dr. Michael Blinderman, Director, Ergo Exergy Technologies Inc. (EETI), Canada, along with his team, briefed the CMD on the ongoing pre-ignition activities at the pilot plant. Shri Abhijit Banerjee, RD, RI-I, Asansol; Shri B.K.Pandey, GM(CED), CMPDI and other officials from RI-I and Clean Energy Department(CED) were also present during the visit. The UCG R&D project aims to establish and demonstrate underground coal gasification technology under Indian geo-mining conditions. CMPDIL & ECL are the Principal Implementing Agency, while EETI, Canada is the sub-implementing agency for the said project. The project is funded by the Coal India Limited (CIL) R&D Board. Underground Coal Gasification is an innovative technology that converts coal into synthesis gas (syngas) in situ, without conventional extraction of the coal. The gas produced can be used as fuel or as feedstock for the production of chemicals, synthetic natural gas, fertilisers and other value-added products. The technology also offers potential for utilising coal resources that may not be economically recoverable through conventional mining methods. The project was initiated in March, 2024 and envisaged implementation in two phases. Phase-I, involving Site suitability and Technical Feasibility Studies was successfully completed in May, 2025. In Phase-II, the project is now progressing towards the pilot-scale gasification stage, with pre-ignition activities underway. The initiative marks an important step in CMPDIL's research and development efforts to explore advanced coal utilisation technologies and support diversification in the coal sector. CMPDI Observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 across Regional Institutes with Integrity Pledge and Awareness Activities CMPDI observed the inauguration of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 on 26th October, 2026 across its regional institutes, with officers and employees taking the Integrity Pledge and reaffirming their commitment to honesty, transparency, accountability and ethical conduct. At RI-II, Dhanbad; RI-IV, Nagpur; RI-V, Bilaspur; RI-VI, Singrauli; and RI-VII, Bhubaneswar, the observance was marked by pledge-taking ceremonies and awareness initiatives. Whereas at RI-V, Bilaspur, and RI-VI, Singrauli, a Vigilance Walk/Walkathon was also organised to spread the message of integrity and corruption-free practices. Employees at RI-VII, Bhubaneswar, including those at the Talcher, Kosala and Gopalpur drilling camps, also participated in the Integrity Pledge. CMPDI commenced Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 with Integrity Pledge CMPDI commenced Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 (26th October to 1st November, 2026) with the administration of the Integrity Pledge to employees by Shri Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, CMD, CMPDI. Following the administration of the pledge, Shri Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, CMD; Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (T/P&D); Shri Anand Mohan, Director (T/RD&T, BD); Shri Pankaj Kumar, C.V.O., CMPDIL & CCL; Shri Kanchan Sinha, RD, RI-III, Ranchi; GM (Vigilance) and other GMs/HoDs and employees paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Shri Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, CMD, CMPDI, emphasised the significance of the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, “Probity for Prosperity (सत्यनिष्ठा से समृद्धि)”, and highlighted CMPDI’s role as a credible organisation contributing to India’s energy sector. He stressed that the accuracy and credibility of mining-related data are vital, as they form the cornerstone of national planning and decision-making. He emphasised the adoption of new technologies and the importance of objective, impartial and unbiased decision-making, free from personal beliefs and preconceived notions. He also highlighted key initiatives undertaken by CMPDI to strengthen transparency and accountability, including the implementation of biometric attendance for contract labourers.
