I don’t know you personally, but as someone who worked for McClatchy at the News and Observer in Raleigh, I don’t think people realize how bad this is. What’s happened to local news is devastating. When local coverage is gutted, you’re losing people who intimately know your community. The local perspective is lost and the narrative of the community becomes shaped by outsiders who don’t understand the people there or completely ignored altogether.

Tough day After 38 years at The Sacramento Bee, I was part of sweeping company layoffs. My last day is Oct. 9. I love my job & my role in the community. I thank coaches, athletes, media & especially readers & followers. I’m not done working. I’m excited about what’s next.

Regardless of what happens in final 20-25 min of game, how can you not be proud at how hard this decimated 49er team is playing? Ridiculous resilience & they are showing tremendous heart

The Hornet Family is excited to welcome the University of Montana Grizzlies and their fans for tonight’s home game and festivities! 🏈🎉 In the spirit of friendship, President @DrLukeWood has announced a donation to the @umontana's food pantry to help students experiencing food and housing insecurity. In addition to a monetary donation, Sac State is giving them boxes of Hornet Honey, produced by the Sac State Office of Sustainability from bees living in hives right here on campus. We hope everyone has a great time tonight! Stingers Up! 🐝🐻

It’s been a couple weeks, but just want to formally recognize the retirement of one of the greatest TV characters of all-time: “Baby” Billy Freeman. “Bible Bonkers” and “Teenjus” would have been real-world smash hits, and you can’t tell me otherwise.

Sac State Athletics has been, lets say... BUSY. - Baseball moved into first place in the WAC with a huge series win against GCU - Football continues to recruit straight studs! - MBB signs J. Summers, B. Gardner, J. Teat and Mikey Williams. And we have a new GM... #ShaqState

During practice, selfless teammates will momentarily put aside their friendships & compete against each other because they care about the team’s success in competition! Practice the way you play! It’s never personal. It’s just necessary for true preparation. Competing IS caring!

It’s easy to have a positive attitude when everything is working in your favor. It takes effort to stay positive when things aren't going your way.
