Here's Walls' full breakdown of his defensive prowess. This guy's baseball IQ>>>>
Taylor Walls just went ~3 minutes on his defensive prowess — and reading balls off the bat like basketball players snag rebounds off the backboard. It was fascinating stuff. Will try and post later.

Parents - if you have an athlete interested in playing at the college level - please read!
A father wrote to me this week and gave me permission to share his son's story, because families in this exact spot need to hear it. In June his son was offered by a power conference program. The degree program fit. He was ready to commit. The staff told him to focus on his summer tournament, and they would connect the following week. Then the portal took the program's starter at his position, along with several others. The staff went quiet. Eventually they told him the class was on hold until the roster landscape cleared. Other four-year schools went silent at the same time. The young man sent one text worth framing: Do you still have an interest in me, because I am trying to figure out my fall plan. He was promised a personal call. He gave his availability. Four weeks of silence and counting. Meanwhile, the family visited the junior colleges that had been recruiting him all along. He committed to one. Playing time, development, and a coaching staff that answered the phone. The father says they could not be happier , and that the lesson was never the ghosting. It was where the interest was real. Two things I want every family to take from this. The rules, rosters, and economics of college baseball have changed drastically. Basic communication has not. A coach who cannot send one honest text about where your son stands has told you something important about the program. And the second: go where you are wanted. This family did. That is not settling. In today's game, it is the plan.

When it comes to hitting the ball hard nothing matters more than pitch location. You can see how small of a pocket that balls hit over 105 end up in. Simply if you want to hit the ball hard hunting middle is pretty much the first priority.

Having coaches on your staff who don’t at least show a unified front to what the head coach is trying to communicate and accomplish are cancers. As a head coach you have to remove them immediately if you don’t, you then will become the bad guy. Trust me, I know from experience (twice)

Start earlier against velocity- swinging harder doesn’t work.
“If I go over 88 EV I’ve swung too hard”. Pay. Attention. Stop the bat speed nonsense. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hang around two lazy people, you’ll become the third. Hang around two cheaters, you’ll become the third. Hang around two dropouts, you’ll become the third. Hang around two CHAMPIONS, you’ll become the third. Moral of the story?… Your circle matters! ~ via @CoachKurtHines

I’m thankful for @PrepBaseballVA for hosting this week’s tournament I had a lot of fun with @RichmondBraves. Because of trouble with my hamstrings I was unable to play the field as much as I would have liked, but I was able to go 4-9, 2BB, 0K’s, 1SB.
