Darkness is the universe’s default. It requires nothing—no energy, maintenance, or will. Left alone, the cosmos settles into quiet, cold, unlit stillness. Light is an interruption, existing only where energy is continuously spent to create and sustain it. Turn off the source and darkness resumes; it was never gone. This argues not for darkness but against it. The ease of the dark is not a virtue but the absence of effort. What must be maintained has already proved worth maintaining. Every lamp, fire, and conscious mind refuses the path of least resistance. We keep the light not because it is natural, but because we choose it—the effortless alternative offers nothing.

I've been traveling the world a bit. One of the most incredible experiences was getting to visit Taiwan w/ @JensenHuang. It was wild 🤯.. huge crowds of engineers, insanely good street food at night markets, and of course a lot of good conversations across many days. I caught some of it on video, see below. Alright, that's it from me, love you all ❤️ Timestamps: 0:00 - Highlights 0:46 - Intro 3:25 - Computex: crowds, engineers, tech, future of AI 9:12 - Chat with Jensen: keynote prep & nerves 13:03 - Chat with Jensen: Taiwan's tech history 19:47 - Raohe night market 29:37 - Chat with Jensen: memories from childhood 33:44 - NVIDIA party 40:29 - Lunch: braised pig's feet 43:09 - Chat with Jensen: GPUs, AI, and competition 55:07 - Ningxia night market 1:10:14 - Taiwanese breakfast 1:29:54 - Outro

VISUALIZATION🚨: This is what happened in your brain when you read.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video shows cultured neurons in a lab dish with growth cones, not activity in a living brain while reading. fMRI studies map reading to distributed networks mainly in left-hemisphere visual/language areas plus cerebellum. technologynetworks.com/neuroscience/v… sciencealert.com/scientists-rev… brainfacts.org/thinking-sensi…

If you don't want to make mistakes, I doubt you will be super successful because failure is the best teacher. Also very important to learn from mistakes and not repeat them!

Moral panics give emotionally dysregulated people a self-righteous excuse to act out psychodramas on the people around them. There was a lot of this in the 2010s. It did lasting damage to the social fabric. Let’s not do it again.

Warren Buffett: “The stock doesn’t know you own it. You have feelings about it, but it has no feelings about you. The stock doesn’t know what you paid.”   What you paid for a stock can become an invisible anchor.   If you didn’t already own it, would you buy it at today’s price?
