The art of opening sets is slowly dying, and we need to save it.
Not every set is meant to peak, and not every DJ needs to come in guns blazing.
There is a reason you are opening, my dear DJs. Learn to build the energy, set the mood, and create room for the night to unfold.
There is absolutely no reason you should be playing at 128 BPM during an opening set. In my opinion, 118 to 124 BPM should be your sweet spot at most.
Learn the art of the build-up. Respect the progression. Understand the assignment. Not every set is about reaching the peak. Sometimes, the real artistry lies in knowing how to begin.
