My Dev tool evolution:
- How can I code without the computer hanging? (Budget constraints) - Notepad++
- Budget is no longer a constraint; what are the pros using? - NetBeans/Eclipse
- I actually know what I'm doing. I want a lightweight editor - Sublime Text
- FOMO: I want every plugin ever - VS Code
- You aren't a serious programmer if you aren't using a JetBrains IDE - JetBrains IDE
- GitHub Copilot works best in VS Code - back to VS Code
- Agents are doing most of my coding; why read code in memory-hogging VS Code? - back to Sublime
Today: Sublime Text (for reading code) + Lazygit (for git management and review) + Codex
Not-so-distant future: I no longer code; how can I still be relevant?
At any given moment, there were thousands of people asking the same questions to fellow humans; now, most of those who have access to AI ask AI.
Knowledge work has become more like data entry work.
Anthropic's article captures the essence (image).
Finally found the local speech-to-text model I have been looking for!
In the latest release of VS Code, I noticed they included a local model (Nemotron) for giving voice commands to your AI agent. After researching it a bit, I discovered the backend uses a very small model that runs entirely locally without heavy lifting.
I learned that Sherpa-ONNX can run these models, so I asked my AI agent to build a simple tool I can trigger with a keyboard shortcut to dictate text directly into my computer. Right now, I am amazed by the results-it is fast and accurate.
After some polish, I plan to release this as a standalone tool. I know everyone "could" build this themselves, but that's still labor you have to put in. Hopefully, releasing it will save a few hours of your time.
Check out the quick demo below to see its speed and accuracy in action.
Demo uses the parakeet-tdt-0.6b-v3-onnx model but nemotron works well too.
I realized my social media use had been creeping up lately - mostly under the guise of "marketing" "networking" and "building my brand." Honestly, it was mostly just eating up my time.
I needed a way to properly limit or block my access to these sites. I looked at a few existing extensions, but most of them locked the actually useful features behind paywalls.
So, I built my own: SteelFocus. It's a Chrome extension designed to help you cut down on time spent on attention-draining websites.
If you're struggling with the same thing, feel free to give it a try. Hopefully, it helps you like it's helped me.

I tried using a QR code instead of a business card at a recent event, but it was clunky and didn't really work. I even passed on a chance to speak on stage because I used up the prep time setting up the digital card. Sometimes simple is better; we don't always need a digital shortcut.
Did OpenAI find a genie or something that granted them compute? First the 5-hour limit vanished, then I got extra resets, and now my limits just keep growing on their own. Are they trying to pull me so deep into the AI jungle that I never come back? #openai
You know that conventional media is really in trouble when a company like @TorontoStar starts misleading you. It shows a discounted price on the checkout screen but then charges you the full price. On asking for a refund, they will just deny it.

I'm usually not one to write thought pieces without much technical depth. But here we go.
Slow the fuck down.

For everyone trying to build something: You are planting seeds. You don't yell at a sprout for growing too slowly. You nurture it and you accept that some plants might not make it. The focus is on the care (fun), not just the harvest (result).
I finally wanted to settle the matter between Codex(plus) and Claude(pro), but it seems that Claude dances only when you throw more money at it. Literally for the first task - and it was a small one in Codex terms - it hit the limit before finishing.
I do not know why they already had coffee in their hands and ended up at the cafe "later"; they probably went back.
I have never seen two people holding the leash of the same dog (or perhaps holding each other through the leash?). It might be a new trend.
However, it is the smartest image model, so it must be correct.

😱🟧 DON'T LOSE YOUR BITCOIN: BE FEARLESS 🟦🦔
Most Bitcoiners think security is all about hackers, malware, and cold storage. They’re missing the bigger threat. Some of the most dangerous attacks happen in the real world... not on a screen.
A “wrench attack” is when someone uses threats or force to get access to your Bitcoin.
It completely bypasses your technical setup by targeting you, the human. No complicated multisig or air-gapped computer can stop someone who’s willing to apply pressure in person. This proves Bitcoin custody isn’t just a tech problem.
It’s a real-world human problem.
Too much self-custody advice assumes perfect conditions; that you’re always calm, organised, and in full control.
Real life doesn’t work that way.
People make mistakes. Circumstances change. Pressure hits when you least expect it. A setup that only works in ideal scenarios is fragile, not strong.
Smart Bitcoin security isn’t about paranoia. It’s about building better structure:
- Reduce unnecessary exposure.
- Eliminate single points of failure.
- Design your recovery plan in advance.
Because one bad day shouldn’t mean permanent loss.
That’s where GuardBlock.com comes in.
GuardBLock is not a custodian - they don’t hold or control your Bitcoin. You do.
Instead, GuardBlock helps you create a collaborative vault with normal multisig use plus a clear, time-locked recovery path.
GuardBlock gives you fearless control over your Bitcoin, providing real resilience for the real world - not an ideal one.

Timelocked Bitcoin has a deadline. If you don't act before recovery paths activate, your security model changes.
To make things easier, we're sending out multiple notifications before coins expire so you don't miss the chance to roll them over.
