Offering validators' yield to holders should be done by the protocol itself, handled by smart contracts only. Removing every party in between creates the most value for both sides in the long run.
🚨 MetaMask confirms infrastructure breach, hackers diverted Ethereum staking rewards
MetaMask has confirmed that attackers gained unauthorized access to part of its staking infrastructure in September, redirecting approximately 0.385 ETH in rewards by manipulating recipient addresses.
The company says its wallet infrastructure, customer funds, private keys, and recovery phrases were not compromised. However, precautionary shutdowns of affected Ethereum validators caused temporary withdrawal delays and missed staking rewards for some customers.
MetaMask has secured the affected systems and is working to reimburse impacted customers. Regular wallet users do not need to take any action.
We have a date! Coffer launches on Ethereum mainnet on 17 November at 12:00 UTC.

What's Coffer?
Validators sell fixed-rate ETH bonds against their stake, without exiting or reducing it. Holders earn a fixed rate backed by that stake. If a bond isn't paid, anyone can trigger the validator's exit to repay it.

📢 ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
We're excited to announce that we will soon be announcing the Coffer mainnet launch.
Unlike the 2019 classic, this one comes with receipts 🧵
Running a validator should be open to anyone. A chain whose incentives keep inviting new validators makes it very hard for any small group to take control.
The full post goes through Uniswap, FTX, stablecoins, lending and EIP-7002.

If a handful of validators can collude, they become the new middleman.
That's why a chain should care about its validators as much as it cares about the people who hold its coin. Validators are users too, just of a different kind.
Wherever a counterparty can be removed, real value is created.
But even an app with nobody in the middle is only as neutral as the chain it runs on, and a chain is only as neutral as the validators who secure it.
ETH supply is up 1% since the Merge, and staked ETH more than tripled. There's still room for new validators.
Coffer gives them one more reason to join. A validator can issue bonds against its stake, stake the ETH it raises, and earn more than its stake alone would.
ETH supply is up about 1% since the Merge.
In the same time period:
> solana:So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112 supply grew 66%, from 354M to about 589M.
