Trips and falls are among the leading causes of emergency room visits each year. Having proper lighting and removing trip hazards can help make your home safer. If the veteran or loved one you support could benefit from home safety updates, such as a lower bed, grab bars or mobility aids, DAV Caregivers Support can help you navigate what’s available.
Our care team connects you with resources for medical equipment and care supplies, often at low or no cost. Find out how else DAV Caregivers Support can fit into your life at davcaregivers.org

Dental Care is Healthcare.
For many veterans, access to dental care remains one of the most significant gaps in @DeptVetAffairs healthcare.
The DAV-backed Dental Care for Veterans Act (H.R. 210) aims to help close that gap by expanding comprehensive dental coverage to all veterans enrolled in the VA healthcare system.

Under current law, many veterans who were forced to retire from the military because of combat-related injuries must give up a portion of their military retirement pay to receive disability compensation from the @DeptVetAffairs. The #MajorRichardStarAct would change that.

The Major Richard Star Act is an important piece of legislation and it's imperative that we get it right. There is a clear path forward: the House Discharge Petition includes the full Major Richard Star Act – without cutting veterans benefits. The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act includes a reduced compromise version. Congress should never take benefits away from one group of veterans to pay for another.

On Gold Star Mother's Day, we pause to honor the mothers whose lives have been forever changed by the loss of a son or daughter in military service.
No words can ease the weight of that sacrifice, but we can ensure their loved ones are never forgotten. Today, we recognize the extraordinary strength, resilience and love of Gold Star Mothers, while remembering the servicemembers whose courage and selfless sacrifice continue to inspire our nation.
To every Gold Star Mother, thank you. We remember your child, we honor their legacy, and we stand with you today and always.

Today, DAV celebrates 106 years of serving America's veterans.
Founded on Sept. 25, 1920, in the aftermath of World War I, DAV was created by wounded and disabled veterans who believed no one should have to fight alone after returning home. They came together to advocate for the benefits they had earned, support one another and ensure future generations of veterans would have someone in their corner.
More than a century later, that mission remains as important as ever. Thanks to the dedication of our members, volunteers, supporters and partners, DAV continues to provide a lifetime of support to veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.
As we celebrate 106 years of service and advocacy, we'd love to hear from you. What does DAV mean to you? Let us know in the comments!
