I’m proud to announce that Washington Capitals forward, Tom Wilson, has invested in Collaborative Fund.
Our team spends a lot of time thinking about the companies we back, but we’re also deliberate about who backs us. In the same way a successful startup can be choosy about what checks to accept, we think our limited partners say as much about us, and what we care about, as our investments do. The source of capital matters.
One of the things I am most proud of is the eclectic group of backers we’ve attracted over the years – including the likes of Nicholas Negroponte, Chad Hurley, Pharrell Williams, Shepard Fairey, and even Sesame Street. Technologists, entrepreneurs, artists, and people who see the world differently. I look at that group and feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude that they’ve trusted us.
Today, I’m excited to officially welcome Tom as an investor in our fund.
If you didn’t grow up going to Caps games with your dad like I did, allow me a brief primer on why for 13 brilliant seasons I’ve been watching Tom establish himself as one of the best hockey players in the world.
Tom came into the league at age 19 as a first-round pick who mostly hit people, a job he was extremely good at. Plenty of players make a fine career out of it. Instead, somewhere in his twenties, he decided to become a different kind of player, so he put in the work and brought back the receipts: back-to-back 30-goal seasons, a Stanley Cup in 2018, and a spot on the top line of the 2026 Canadian Olympic team.
Our industry likes to write lists about what founders should be: relentless, coachable, obsessed. The lists aren't wrong, they're just not that useful, because no one has ever become relentless by reading about it. You learn it by doing it.
Tom is doing it. He is the definition of grit, hardwork, and resilience. Those are qualities I value in entrepreneurs and in anyone I want to build something with.
Tom is already a fan and customer of several of our portfolio companies. I’m excited to build on that connection as we continue backing companies pushing the world forward, especially in sports, health, and wellness (and dogs!).
Let’s go, #43!

Bonus: @ericries signed Incorruptible for me. Eric founded the Long-Term Stock Exchange, which we backed at Collab Fund. The book is about why good companies go bad and how to design against it. Felt like the right souvenir from a conference about scale.

Reid turned @mastersofscale into an AI-generated vinyl album. Every track is a different episode reimagined as a song, each in its own genre.
Three of the many fun things from this year's Masters of Scale Summit:
1/ The album. @tristanwalker is track 5, "They Don't See It," done as 2000s chipmunk-soul 🎸
2/ @dhmeyer signed a copy of "What Could Possibly Go Right?" to @collabfund. His thesis: culture is an aspiration, not a destination.
3/ I watched @reidhoffman interview a Reid AI hologram of himself. Still processing that one.

John spoke at a Collab Fund summit.
This quote from him is such a good articulation of our worldview.
"Business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity."
"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost.
The biggest mistake people make they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that @JeffBezos and @elonmusk somehow stole the money from the people.
They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound.
All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are.
Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well.
This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world."

"You can provide enough fuel to power the entire fusion power plant for its entire lifetime … just sitting there from day one, which really changes how you think of energy security.”
– That's CFS Chief Science Officer and Co-founder @BrandonSorbom on What’s Next with Philip Meissner, discussing the history of fusion energy, our progress building our SPARC fusion machine, and fusion energy’s potential to dramatically transform energy politics.
Fusion energy offers a clean, steady, and abundant energy source can be built just about anywhere, including places that rely on pipelines and tanker ships today. When we use SPARC to demonstrate Q>1 — net fusion energy, which means the fusion plasma generates more power than is used to heat it — then fusion energy will be a big step closer to fulfilling that promise.
Says Brandon: “There are a lot of places, especially island nations, that are dependent on importing fuel from somewhere else, and I think those countries would be very happy to not have to do that.”

Plug-in batteries could help UK households save up to £330 a year.
But they're still waiting for government approval.
We're opening reservations for Jules by Fuse anyway.
It's the UK’s first plug-in solar and battery system.
Batteries are where the biggest savings for UK households are. They charge up on cheaper energy during the day to power homes in the evening, when energy is more expensive.
Since we're the energy company, Jules can see wholesale prices and a home's live usage. It knows when to store and release power, meaning Jules can save households up to £330 a year without the customer lifting a finger. That’s 3x what the government says plug-in solar alone can save.
We’re working with the UK government to approve plug-in batteries safely and quickly, so every British home can benefit from battery and solar power.
The price cap is expected to rise again in January. UK households can’t afford to wait any longer.
We want to deliver Jules to customers the moment plug-in batteries are approved.
That's why we’re opening reservations now.
The UK government must finish the job and approve plug-in batteries now.

Tesla driver is magic. I want to get my parents one to extend their time on the road. But a Robotaxi w/ a safety driver is so disappointing. Awkwardly announcing, “I’m not actually here” doesn’t quite cut it 🤣. And the anxious hands at 5’ and 7’ did not have a calming effect.

For years credit card issuers have been liable by statute for fraudulent payments. This encourages development of issuer-side tech and systems to combat fraud and helps create broad consumer trust in credit cards. I like this approach, rather than rely on consumer (over-)insurance. @ABAesq formed an Autonomous Systems Governance Working Group earlier this year to work on issues like these.

agentic insurance is something that i’ve been thinking about for a while to help people get comfortable with agents and also build trust and piece of mind.
questions for me
>who pays? can (for example) Town just offer it on top of their payment plan?
>what on earth does that financial model look like? does the math math?
anyone building here (thoughtfully) i would love to talk to
Sooner or later, we're going to see some kind of insurance for AI agents that “fat-finger” purchases.
Look at credit cards. There's a ton of fraud. People steal card numbers, and sometimes you get charged for something you didn't buy.
You call your bank, it's a pain, but there's a system for dealing with it, and often you can get your money back. Of course, all of that costs money, and some of it gets built into the fees on card transactions.
AI agents are going to spend money on people's behalf, and sometimes they'll get things wrong. And that'll just be insured by the credit cards.

@artonblockchain shared an idea with me for an onchain generative artwork
it was titled:
LIFT (a self portrait)
the collection was deployed on @ethereum in august 2025
powered by @artblocks_io contracts
LIFT (a self portrait) consisted of 1,000 procedurally generated, fully onchain artworks and video games, each playable through a Game Boy Advance emulator or physical cartridge
at the center of each game
was a character called 'pixel man'
a procedurally generated self-portrait of snowfro
who was asked to lift a heavy boulder with the assistance of his onchain friends, while overcoming obstacles and opposing forces
over 300+ artists and friends of @artonblockchain were invited to create onchain pixel supporters for the project, which populate across all the 1,000 unique artworks
importantly
the network snowfro built around LIFT (a self portrait) was always meant to be a starting point
the beginning
snowfro had a much larger network he wanted to build
designed around the second chapter of his LIFT universe
tonight in marfa TX
our team at @glitchmarfa is honored to present snowfro's second chapter
in partnership with @LACMA and sponsored by @Fountainxyz
the new collection is called LIFT (together)
LIFT (together) is an interactive artwork and system designed by Snowfro combining a physical pedestal, offchain software, the @ethereum blockchain, and a global competition
the system invites anyone to walk up to the pedestal
design their very own pixel supporter
engage in a game of speed
and help lift snowfro’s rock
upon completion
the system generates a 1/1/x onchain exhibition poster on @ethereum
each onchain poster is also unique artwork, incorporating your designed pixel character, procedurally generated assets, and elements using @ethereum entropy
a small number of artworks in the collection may also find *rare* and *very rare* artwork attributes
each exhibition poster is also a record of location, printed on each artwork
over the next decade
the LIFT (together) pedestal will travel across the world
allowing collectors across different geographies and institutions
to join snowfro’s onchain network
and tonight, the journey begins in marfa, TX
join us at @glitchmarfa ❤️
