Who Is Telling Citizens to Stock Up? Governments telling citizens to stock up: Japan is about to join the list. On Nov 2, its disaster minister will ask households to keep at least 3 days of food, water and toilet supplies, ideally a week. The stated reason is major earthquakes near Tokyo and on the Nankai Trough.

Against the dated originals, three calls now count: one confirmed, one partial and one miss, a 65% grid-attack forecast. Three claims are withdrawn, three contributor pieces set aside. Record: 47 scored calls.

The Pre-War Iran Debate, Scored We scored 18 pre-war predictions on the Iran war, from both sides. Calls on how Iran would fight mostly held: Gulf retaliation, Hormuz, a long war measured by survival. Calls on politics mostly missed: polls didn't stop it, the regime didn't fall, Washington didn't back down.

The Strike Clock: US Attack Planning and Iran’s Threat to Gulf Cables In Washington, a second Iran strike is now "when, not if." Tehran's answer: Iranian officials say Gulf undersea cables and US-linked data centers are targets if war resumes, with "no more red lines." We still assess no joint US-Israeli strike before Nov 3, with less confidence.

Fortress and ‘Be Ready’: What the Pentagon’s 90-Day Plan and Britain’s Campaign Actually Say Two governments told their people to get ready in one week. The Pentagon wants every base able to run 90 days off-grid. Britain's "Be Ready" asks for three days of water, food, cash and a radio. Neither signals an attack within days; both signal planning for a long war at home.

Acte III: The European Spread The unrest is no longer just French. Last weekend: looting in Barcelona, Italy's "October 17" founder arrested on terrorism suspicion, Albania's worst clashes of the month, protest camps cleared in Portugal. Next up, Oct 31: France's Acte III and protests in 21 German cities. @chrisschmitz @SurvivalReport

Protests in Italy due to cost of living increases...
We've talked about the potential of this exact same situation happening in the US due to high diesel prices on @SurvivalReport, Italy has become the first example of effect of the food and fuel shortages. Truckers protesting high gas prices have prevented deliveries to parts of southern Italy, leading to empty shelves and dry pumps. On Wednesday night in Naples, Italy, a 72-year-old retiree walked into a supermarket to buy himself a snack and found it nearly bare. It was out of milk, yogurt and eggs. Its shelves of pasta, oils and canned tomatoes were almost empty. The vast produce section was empty save for red onions, chestnuts, two melons and a case of ornamental gourds. It is the fallout from a week of strikes and road blockades by southern Italian truckers who have slowed traffic on the region’s main highways, making it harder to distribute goods. The truckers are protesting spikes in fuel costs since the start of the war in Iran. The price of gasoline in Italy has risen 27 percent and diesel 32 percent since February, according to government data. Naples risks “being paralyzed,” wrote Gaetano Manfredi, the city’s mayor, in a statement issued with the mayor of another southern city affected by the truckers’ strikes. The blockades were responsible, he added, for “supermarket shelves growing emptier and emptier.” nytimes.com/2026/10/22/world…
