Completely agree. What makes our headlines is very often a terrible indictment on what we value, and what we don't.

Adam’s final day of school today. He gave the staff a chocolate cake and this signed copy of @CologonKathy fab issue paper. The evidence base for what Adam showed them was possible and should be the norm #inclusiveeducation @DRC_AU @cyda @PWDAustralia

Imagine giving up your son to the state as there's no other way to get him suitable housing...only to find there's a rapist working at the group home he ends up at. Sandy Guy & her son Liam went through this, my story on @abcnews abc.net.au/radio/adelaide/pr… #disabilityroyalcommission

‘Group’ homes according to @DRC_AU are considered to be4 to 6 people. A group home is certainly even 2 or 3 people if they are ‘vacancy managed’ or forced to share care!

Two years, four appeals- and finally Nadine got the support her daughter desperately needed. But only after mentioning the ABC. Good for this family but what about the rest? It shouldn't take calls to the media to get this stuff sorted out. #NDISMakeItWork abc.net.au/news/2019-11-26/n…

Hmmm I note Southern Autistic is an award winner. Weren't they the recent subject of the @ACurrentAffair9 report? I hope they played the story at the awards ceremony. Also Bendigo SDS - have things changed since the review? 9now.nine.com.au/a-current-a…

A thread: 🧵 Last night I shared a family story with the @DRC_AU about a relative and her autistic son. 2018 was his first year of high school. A short transition had occurred. His NEP was not updated during this time even though it was a major transition (ie. perfect time).
