Good stuff @PratikxPatel
For what it’s worth I wrote about this topic in 2013… And I have even more concern now, due to impact mitigation creating more risky behavior…

He’s not wrong…
FTR, there is attenuation for subconcussive forces, mainly the stacking effect. But using them outside the interior line does very little in regard to what Reed is discussing.

✍️My 2 Year @ConcussionCornr Reflection (unedited and unfiltered):
It is currently 2:11 AM, and I started my day at 6:30 AM.
Despite the fact that I should be utterly exhausted (which is the case most days), building Concussion Corner Academy® from the ground up has been incredibly exhilarating.
It's especially rewarding when things start to come together + flow as a new business.
We currently have two cohorts running in parallel, with one another in an active alpha build stage involving our past graduates and new faculty.
There are days when I feel completely bewildered and unsure of what I'm doing. However, I keep learning, digging, and refining. I am deeply grateful for the friends and colleagues who have been mentoring me along the way, especially @karenlitzyNYC + @PelvicGuru1. I thank them in my head or out loud literally every single day, although not enough to their faces. 🙏
On other days, like today, I hit a stride and experience clarity. I am filled with gratitude and joy as I serve our students in office hours and onboarding calls from all over the world.
It is truly amazing that we have the opportunity to mentor and shape incredibly humble and deeply connected interdisciplinary healthcare providers who may or may not be aware of all the nuances of the concussive injury when they enter our virtual walls.
Our students not only learn directly from some of the brilliant clinician-scientists who write the international concussion documents that shape #concussionrehabilitation, but they also get to build a community that spans across disciplines. They can mentor one another and address the unique needs of their own communities, allowing them to serve their specific patient populations, from pediatric to geriatric.
Our students understand that Concussion Corner Academy® does NOT provide a certification in concussion rehabilitation despite having over 60 hours of course content. Our students understand that having a certification in an injury that is ever evolving and that has over 43 working definitions is not only unethical in my lens, but also confusing to our mTBI patient population navigating a very complex healthcare system.
Our students become ambassadors and advocates for their concussion patients in their unique patient communities of whom they serve. Some are in emergency departments in Australia, some are vestibular physiotherapists in Spain, some are physical therapists in Alaska who have to fly to their patients serving indigenous populations, and some are PGY 0 to 38 years engaging in discourse of how they can collaborate care across the aisle so they can better serve their concussion patients.
✨I extend my deepest gratitude to the faculty for embracing this idea. It’s remarkable how they can all simultaneously amplify and synthesize the most salient research with an energy that is uplifting and motivating beyond any IRB approved research scale. This sets up our students from around the world for next-day knowledge translation and a vigor to lean in to one of the most complex injuries to rehabilitate and care for.
We do are absolute best to make the most complex of injuries uncomplicated by providing 1:1 mentorship and group coaching with our faculty and founder.
It truly takes a village, a Herculean amount of effort (while wearing David’s shoes), and a level of determination that I have never experienced before to bring this project to life while uplifting the minds of so many deeply connected individuals who are part of our graduate community.
I have the deepest gratitude for our students who have trusted us with their post professional education and to our small but mighty team of all women comprised of a TBI survivor, disabled veteran, our interns, and my partner in life + business.
#TeachOneServeMany is our motto, and I am so excited to see what blossoms in 2024 after we have firmly established our roots + nourished them the last 2 years.

We still have a long way to go, but we must continue to push forward. Athletic Trainers are needed in schools around the country! But too often this is considered an afterthought.. if at all. That needs to change.
