Jay-Z says he gave Kanye $20 million without blinking. Kanye says it was just a tour deal, then left Jay’s company claiming it owed him $3 million. Jay called him his little brother. Kanye said their kids had never even played together. In the video below, Kanye says the way Jay gave it made him feel he owed β€œmore than just the money itself.” Then Jay-Z answers. Jay met Kanye when Kanye was a producer with no album. Jay put his beats on The Blueprint. Ten years later they made Watch the Throne together. In 2016 Kanye gave The Life of Pablo to Tidal, Jay’s streaming app, as an exclusive. The app hit #1 in the App Store. Reports said the album brought Tidal 1.5 million new subscribers. That fall Kanye started calling Jay out at his own concerts. In Seattle it was the kids. In Sacramento he went after BeyoncΓ© and walked off after about 30 minutes. Months later he left Tidal over the $3 million. Jay answered on 4:44. He rapped that he gave Ye 20 million without blinking. Kanye says the money was a tour deal through Roc Nation. What bothered him was that Jay made it sound personal. Jay’s side: β€œWhat really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kids and my wife into it.” The case for Kanye: a tour deal is business, not a gift. And in his words, β€œIf we’re brothers, then that is my family.” The case for Jay: Kanye was in debt, and Kanye himself says Jay had to cosign the deal. The next spring, Letterman asked Jay if they were still friends. β€œThat’s my brother. We’re beyond friends.” So did Kanye owe Jay-Z for the $20 million, or did Jay-Z owe Kanye an apology?

I really hate when y’all do this because this is NOT the same thing. And while I believe ChlΓΆe is far more talented than Sabrina, that doesn't mean every criticism of her artistry is rooted in a double standard. ChlΓΆe isn't presenting herself as some quirky black girl in the music she's trying to sell to the masses. She's been unsuccessfully marketing sex appeal, and the criticism goes beyond simply being sexually expressive. Sabrina's song is about getting naughty with her man through playful Christmas innuendos. ChlΓΆe's song is about being Santa's side bitch, whos fucking him behind Mrs. Claus back, while also dressed in a childlike Christmas costume and playing with TOYS. Those are two very different creative choices. You can defend ChlΓΆe without forcing comparisons that don't hold up. This isn't helping her or the conversation surrounding her artistry.
