God willing, my goal for the new year is to finish making #AtlanteanExodus ttrpg—at least the final ruleset—the art will take longer to commission.
Once again, we have survived. Lots of lucky initiative rolls. And our six characters are surprisingly strong for level one.
Squirrels are looking fatter and more bushy-tailed this fall. Think we're in for a long, cold winter.
Here is when I last made blueberry jam (I made blueberry pie filling last year because we still had lots of jam).
And now time to make blueberry jam. This is what I do on my vacation. #gardening #canning
And here is the recipe.
Replying to @couturerob
BLUEBERRY JAM
2 cups blueberries
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
Combine ingredients in saucepan
Medium heat
Stir frequently
Bring to boil
Reduce heat, stir occasionally, keep boiling for 10 minutes
Ladle into sterilized jars
Water bath for 10 minutes
Remarkably midwit takes from JCO have crossed my feeds lately.
It's no wonder my English professors never included her in their curriculum.
true, different religions at different times in one's life. but it is hardly my opinion alone that Buddhism--as a philosophy, rather than a religion--is indeed wise, "mature" in a way that other religions that are more messianic, zealous for converts, & intolerant of one another, are not.
what have I said here do you find "not useful"--?

Friends, what is chastity—the second of the evangelical counsels?
Though the clergy and religious practice chastity through celibacy, the virtue itself is just as applicable to the laity.
Chastity simply means sexual uprightness or a rightly ordered sexuality—and this means bringing one’s sexual life under the aegis of love.
As Thomas Aquinas taught, love is not a feeling but rather an act of the will—more precisely, willing the good of the other. It is the ecstatic act by which we break free from the ego, whose gravitational pull wants to draw everything to itself.
Notice how the Church’s teaching that sex belongs within the context of marriage is meant to hold off this negative tendency. In saying that our sexuality should be subordinated to unity (the radical devotion to one’s spouse) and procreation (the radical devotion to one’s children), the Church is endeavoring to bring our sex lives completely under the umbrella of love.
What would our country look like if, starting today, every Catholic lived out the counsel of chastity? We would make an enormous dent in the pornography business; human trafficking would be dramatically reduced; abortions would appreciably decrease; and families would be significantly strengthened.
A thread on self-mastery from the CCC:
“Chastity includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery which is a training in human freedom. The alternative is clear: either man governs his passions and finds peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and becomes unhappy. 🧵1/5
“Self-mastery is a long and exacting work. One can never consider it acquired once and for all. It presupposes renewed effort at all stages of life. The effort required can be more intense in certain periods, such as when the personality is being formed during childhood and adolescence.” - CCC 2342 🧵4/5
