Protest meetings were held all across Odisha, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar, on 23 October under the banner of People Against SIR as part of the nationwide movement against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Representatives of Left parties, progressive and democratic movements, civil society organisations, intellectuals, retired administrators, students, youth, women and concerned citizens united to oppose the deletion of eligible voters’ names and demand transparency and impartiality in the electoral process.
Protest meetings at multiple locations in Kordha, Sudargarh, Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Jajpur districts demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, cancellation of the illegal SIR process, immediate restoration of the names of all eligible voters deleted from electoral rolls, comprehensive electoral reforms, and repeal of the law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners to safeguard the Election Commission’s independence. The meetings asserted that the fight against SIR is part of a broader people’s movement to protect citizens’ right to vote, defend democracy and uphold the Constitution.

The "School Bachao" campaign was launched by the SFI in August with the aim of protecting public education in India. The core demands of the campaign include the reopening of closed and merged government schools, mass recruitment of teachers to address acute staff shortages, immediate halt to the privatization drive and commercialization of education, and improvement of basic infrastructure in public schools.

50-60 right-wing goons heckled and threatened AISA President Neha Bora today outside Mandir Marg Police Station, where she had been called for a hearing, even as the police looked on without intervening.
We strongly condemn the inaction of the Delhi Police, which amounts to complicity and patronage. The double standard of the police, who are enabling extremists and hoodlums to attack peaceful protesters, stands exposed. Protesters are being assaulted and jailed while the ones actually "breaching peace" are given a free hand and are roaming around the national capital looking for their next target.
We demand an end to this blatant complicity. The police are duty-bound to uphold the law and protect citizens, not to take instructions from Hindutva outfits that are unleashing violence on the streets.

7,000 Farmers and Workers Rally in Akole, Maharashtra
A massive rally, led by the AIKS, CITU, AIDWA and DYFI, was held in Akole, Ahilyanagar district, Maharashtra, on 22 October in support of the ongoing sit-in Satyagraha, demanding substantial relief for drought-hit farmers, immediate payment of crop insurance compensation, ₹2 lakh loan waiver for farmers who have regularly repaid their loans, land titles for those cultivating forest and other lands, and the resumption of financial assistance to Ladli Behna beneficiaries.
Carrying red and white flags and raising militant slogans, thousands of farmers and workers marched through Akole town to the Tehsil office, where they submitted a memorandum outlining their demands along with thousands of individual applications from farmers and citizens.
Addressing the public meeting held following the rally, senior leader Brinda Karat, AIKS National President Ashok Dhawale and AIKS National Joint Secretary Ajit Nawale strongly criticised the Maharashtra government’s anti-farmer policies. They condemned the ₹5,000 drought relief announced for farmers as a cruel mockery, as crop losses and mounting debts deepen the agrarian crisis, and pointed out that the ₹4,000 payable under the Namo Kisan Nidhi scheme was being withheld.
The round-the-clock sit-in agitation will continue until 26 October. The Kisan Sabha leadership announced that if the state government fails to take concrete decisions on the demands, hundreds of vehicles carrying farmers from across Maharashtra will set out from Akole for Mumbai to compel the state government to address the pressing issues confronting farmers.
