day 5
build a community with your users. they will be your advocates. but dont just listen to everything they say. you need to have judgement & find the balance between your vision and what theyre asking for.

the recent iPod nostalgia hits different on design twitter. But man i miss cover flow, so just for fun as a little tribute i made an interactive version you control with your hands with your webcam
(earphones warnings: loud daft punk plays half way through)
how it works:
• pinch & hold to swipe through albums/songs
• double tap the air to select/play
• left hand controls the rest
(up/down for volume, left/right to scrub)
was messing with the volume/scrubber mapping for a bit but using the left hand to isolate it felt the most natural.
would love to see this on a TV someday, just lounging on the couch flipping through records with a wave of your hand. definitely want to explore more spatial interactions like this.
shoutout to Andrew Coulter Enright and @jdelStrother for the classic UI, great memz!
gotta use the App Store header to add some fun and cuteness 🐥
I really love this App Store header video that the app Pool added! The duck bopping around and bumping into the side of the phone is super fun: buildwithtaste.com/m/LGX4scz…

went to visit a friend who’s a ceramicist and works in a studio with no phone signal in a tiny yorkshire village. he doesn’t listen to podcasts or music, only occasionally uses the radio, and when I asked him what he thinks about all day he just said “well, pots mostly”

now that we can add banners to the app store page
we thought to add some fun with a little animation for @footnotes_app's chirp using his wingpaws to smash out our typewriter logo

still bad at naming my layers, guess AI can't change all habits
