Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸

American Surgeon talking about US Health Insurance Companies denying coverage for patients in extreme need
“Today, this patient was actually denied surgery initially, and he has spinal cord compression. He has spinal nerve compression, he has severe weakness, and he has a collapsed neck. So these are the challenges that we have every day. So to get patients to the OR takes a lot of people.”
He then talks about how many people it actually takes just to overcome insurance company denies and get their patients care, “We battle this all the time.”
“A patient who has a clear indication for surgery denied by the insurance company,
- First they denied the surgery altogether
- Then they said that I couldn't use cages to support the spine
- Then they said I could do a three level fusion without a plate
- Then they said the patient had to go home on the same day of surgery, which I think is, is actually dangerous”
This video is crazy, the insurance company actually wants to leave patients in extremely dangerous situations even after surgery

6 February 1942 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Levie Swart, was born in Amsterdam.
In August 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz and, after selection, murdered in a gas chamber. His elder sister, Frouwke was killed with him.

30 January 1929 | A Czech Jewish girl, Eva Salusová, was born.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstadt ghetto on 6 October 1944 together with her mother Marta. Both did not survive.

He was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstad ghetto on 9 October 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

She arrived at Auschwitz in a transport of 1010 Jews deported from Westerbork on 28 July 1942. She was murdered in the gas chamber after selection.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstadt ghetto on 18 May 1944. She did not survive.

Siblings Katalin and Laszo Windt were born in Debrecen, Hungary in 1938 and 1939, respetively. Prior to WWII they lived in Tarcal, Hungary.
They were both murdered in #Auschwitz in 1944, when the mass deportations of Hugarian Jews took place.

18 January 1943 | Two transports of Jews deported from Malines / Mechelen arrived at #Auschwitz - 1,555 people. After selection, 387 men & 81 women were registered. The remaining 1,087 people were murdered in gas chambers.
Among them was Frieda Jungst. She was five years old.

In August 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

In September 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in the gas chamber. Together with her, her siblings were killed: (from left) Betsy, Ina and Isaac.

5 January 1936 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Lea Cohen, was born in Assen.
In November 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz with her brother Mozes (in the picture with Lea), and mother Kaatje. They were all murdered in a gas chamber after selection.
