If St. Chavara were alive in the Kerala of today, instead of schools and grander churches, he would be setting up IT parks and general office space on Church land, since he would have the common sense to know what Kerala really needs.

The Tamil form. Hope that helps. You canโ€™t will homogeneity into existence simply cos you want to or because it is politically expedient. Centuries of history and cultural evolution which has produced different material realities will not go away at the wave of a Hindutva wand.
A Tamilian Hindu offers Hindu prayers before opening his beef shop. What form of Hinduism is practised in TN? I am just curious.

Now of course people will say RC is playing to the gallery, trying to manipulate Malayalis. They may or may not be right but thatโ€™s not the point. The point is that Malayalis have now made the Hindutva juggernaut that swept the country play by their rules. What a spectacular win.

The upper caste money lender class of India literally funded Indiaโ€™s colonisation by lending to the East India Company for profit (which is how EIC paid Indian sepoys that were the majority of EICโ€™s army). Will they do it again for more money? Should we distrust them as well?

I'll be blunt. You dehatis can do your thing, chant Shivaji and go burn down a convent school in the dehat. That's your playground in the Union. They shouldn't have gone there anyway wasting their time to civilize you lot. Fort Kochi is off limits for you. You are not welcome.
Bigots !!! pls note !!

This is the biggest Malayali win in a very long time. We have the sitting BJP president openly saying (while the issue is hot) that โ€˜North Indians should not be teaching us secularismโ€™ and that Malayali Hindus, Christians and Muslims will together decide and shape our future.
Nobody needs to come from outside and give us gyan about what secularism is. Malayalees will decide what is to be done in Keralam, what can be eaten, what can be spoken, what can be sung, what we celebrate. Hindu Malayalee, Christian Malayalee, or Muslim Malayalee: we will decide our future and shape our future collectively. But CM @vdsatheesan must ensure that every Malayalee of every faith feels respected, secure and safe, not just from violence but also from verbal insults and discrimination. It is not enough to respond only when something is said against PFI or a particular community. The CM must respond when Hindus and patriots find people making anti-India statements, and when people who encourage Hamas are allowed to do so without any reaction from the state. It should not be episodic. It should not be seasonal. It should not be going with the wind. It should be all the time, every time. #EnthKitty ? #APAKADAMPolitics

Sure. Eventually, you may win a bunch of elections. But what will Kerala BJP look like at that point? How truly different are you going to be from the latest faction of Kerala Congress by then? Just the latest, somewhat opportunist, but essentially harmless entrant? Have at it.

Okay Rajeev I know you don't really know Kerala, but everyone knows Kashi Art Cafe. It transformed Kerala; founded by a Malayali and his American wife ~30 years ago, who pioneered the art movement in Kochi. Named after Japanese ่“ๅญ kashi, meaning pastry, confectionery, sweets.
Keralam is for all Malayalees. Malayalees alone will decide the present & future of Keralam. Our food, our culture, our celebrations. Keralam is part of India. Every Malayalee is an also an Indian. I agree with CMs sentiment in his post. However legitimate questions arise about political culture thats developing in Keralam- โžก๏ธWhy do some people glorify Jinnah - a man who divided of India on basis of religions? โžก๏ธWhy do some politicians justify, defend and encourage proscribed Terror organisations like Hamas and their violence? โžก๏ธWhy do political parties like Cong and CPM hv political alliances with avowed anti-secular, anti-constitution orgn like JamaatEIslami ? As much as CM @vdsatheesan twists and turns in the political wind to justify this destructive political culture, let this be clear - the only reason some people think they can get away with insults and insensitive behavior (Dont forget this cafe is named after Kashi - the holy hindu city) is because they get a free-pass (encouragement) from Cong/CPM for this Imagine CM Keralas tweet and response if someone opens a restaurant named after a Muslim holy city and served Pork ? He will find himself being an Ex-CM or fleeing for his life or both. I was abused and targeted by @pinarayivijayan for speaking against Hamas radicalisation effort in Keralam. Art 19 - right to free speech and expression applies to every Indian. Art 19(2) restrictions to free speech apply to every Indian. So my advise to CM Satheesan is this - ensure sensitivity and respect to ALL Malayalees equally. Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Do not encourage anti-India , anti-Hindu insults/discourse/actions/sentiment like Jinnah worship. In that you will have our support. But selective secularism and selective talk of communal harmony will make you like every other fake politician before you. And we will resist it. Fully. Everytime. #EnthuKitty ? #APAKADAMPolitics

Fort Kochi and Varkala are places where cultures meet, histories intertwine and diversity thrives. Now, a vlogger peddling hate for profit seeks to paint these vibrant destinations in communal colours. Having failed to divide Keralam, the Sangh Parivar is outsourcing its hate campaign to online provocateurs. But Keralamโ€™s secular spirit will not yield to their politics of hatred. The State Government must take strict legal action against those spreading communal enmity.

Keralam stands united. Communal hatred has no place here. The recent Instagram video by a vlogger from outside the state, attempting to spread misinformation about Fort Kochi, portray our state in a negative light, and divide communities, is unacceptable. A case has been registered, and the law will take its course. The UDF government remains committed to communal harmony and justice without fear or favour. A New Era for God's Own Country. No room for hate. We will not allow anyone to even lay a finger on our communal harmony.

tbh Kashi Art Cafe, or generally Fort Kochi, its art cafes and biennale, are not really meant for this class of North Indian. And considering the typical Northie feels that everything should conform to his small town dehat sensibilities, its understandable he felt alienated.

For the last time, Malayalis didnโ€™t start eating beef to provoke or offend. Itโ€™s been ubiquitous for decades, including among practising, temple-going Hindus (including BJP supporters). Was never political. After Jio, you discovered we ate beef & got outraged. And we responded.

It's forbidden in our family bastard...u kerala assholes deliberately eat beef to mock us

To be clear, all of this is addressed to the well meaning, non bigoted, non-Malayali Indian whoโ€™s legitimately confused or taken aback by the stark cultural differences. The streetshitting unwashed dehati son of a bitch in the video is a right cunt.

This entire beef discourse is fundamentally about the average North Indian struggling to stomach the cultural diversity that exists in the country. And if youโ€™re a Hindutva person, also the issues it creates for your political project that needs homogeneity.

I have friends, from prominent Hindu families, some of whom are very closely associated with temple management etc., BJP leaning, who casually eat beef. Even serve it for functions (receptions, never weddings / ceremonies, which are strictly vegetarian). Beef is not a real line.
