We have been working hard since the Apollo III launch in March. We have optimized both our ASIC as well as firmware down to the bare metal to squeeze up to 20% of extra performance compared to our launch numbers! This is vertically integrated Bitcoin hardware.

we just open-sourced the entire akoya miner🦪 not a demo. the real thing, custom CUDA kernels RTX 2000 → B300, AMD/ROCm for MI300X, the full pool network stack. one ./build.sh auto-detects your card and builds a ready-to-run binary. native windows too. akoyapool.com/

Kaspa Crescendo Upgrade and What It Means for You (Non-Technical Overview) On May 5, 2025, Kaspa, a fast-growing cryptocurrency, will launch its biggest upgrade yet: Crescendo. If you’re new to crypto or not sure what Kaspa is all about, this guide will break it down in plain English. What Is Kaspa? Kaspa is a next-generation proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrency. Like Bitcoin, it’s decentralized and secured by miners. But unlike Bitcoin, it’s built to be much faster, more scalable, and ready for real-world use. Most blockchains work in a straight line, one block at a time. Kaspa uses a different structure called a blockDAG(Directed Acyclic Graph), which allows multiple blocks to be processed simultaneously instead of one after another. This means the network doesn’t get bottlenecked as more people use it. Key highlights: 1-second block times (compared to Bitcoin’s 10 minutes) High transaction throughput with near-instant confirmations Fully decentralized and community-driven Fair launch with no pre-mining, no central control Kaspa is designed to keep the security and fairness of Bitcoin while solving its biggest weaknesses: speed and scalability. What Is the Crescendo Upgrade? Crescendo is a major network upgrade that will increase Kaspa’s block rate from 1 block per second to 10 blocks per second, a tenfold boost in speed and capacity. Here’s what that means: Ten times more blocks processed per second Faster transaction confirmations, almost instant even during busy times Much higher network capacity, supporting more users and use cases Lower fees, because the network won’t get congested easily This upgrade is being implemented through a hard fork, meaning all miners and node operators must upgrade to the new version of the software (v1.0.0) to stay in sync with the network. Why Is This Upgrade Important? Crescendo isn’t just about speed, it’s about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with proof-of-work blockchains. 1. Massive Performance Boost Kaspa will become one of the fastest base-layer PoW blockchains in existence. With 10 blocks per second, the network can support millions of users without slowing down. 2. Smoother User Experience Transactions will confirm in seconds or less. Whether you’re sending KAS coins or using future Kaspa-based apps, the experience will feel snappy and modern. 3. No Trade-offs Unlike many blockchains that gain speed by centralizing or lowering security, Kaspa keeps its core values intact: decentralized, permissionless, and secure. 4. Future-Proofing Crescendo also includes backend improvements that pave the way for smart contracts, advanced transaction types, and even privacy features later on. 5. Community Confidence This upgrade has been in testing for over a year across multiple testnets. The team has taken a cautious, well-prepared approach to ensure everything runs smoothly. What Do Users Need To Do? Everyday users: No action needed. Just be aware there may be a short pause in transactions as the network switches over on May 5. Miners and full node operators: You must upgrade to the latest Kaspa node version (v1.0.0) before the fork happens. Otherwise, your software will become incompatible. Wallets and services: Most modern wallets will automatically adapt. Some exchanges may temporarily pause withdrawals or deposits during the upgrade window, this is normal. What Happens After Crescendo? Crescendo is a turning point, but it’s also a foundation for what’s coming next: Smart contract support (possibly on a layer-2 or modular basis) DeFi applications and fast payments Further network optimizations and scaling improvements Increased visibility and adoption With this upgrade, Kaspa proves that proof-of-work networks can scale and stay decentralized, a claim few others can back up. Kaspa has already built a reputation for being one of the fastest, fairest, and most technically sound PoW coins. The Crescendo upgrade on May 5, 2025 takes that vision to the next level. For beginners, this is a great time to learn more about Kaspa. It’s a live, working blockchain with an active community and strong development and after Crescendo, it’s poised to be faster and more capable than ever. Whether you’re holding KAS, thinking about mining, or just curious about crypto that isn’t trying to be Ethereum or Solana, Kaspa is worth watching.
