What a Day 1 in Shanghai.
From visiting the new office to seeing Solana light up the Shanghai skyline.
Quite a way to kick off the week!
Incredible energy from the community here.

"There are 29 global systemically important banks. There are seven currently building on Solana. I'd like to think that number is close to double that by this time next year, putting us at about 50% of all GSIBs building on Solana."

Lily Liu, President of Solana Foundation, on the largest capital market in the world
"The internet capital market is going to be the largest global capital market. It might take a decade, but it is the absolute direction of travel."
"Look at Southeast Asia. Many countries, all on separate currencies. You don't solve fragmentation with more fragmentation. You need unified, neutral financial infrastructure, and that's why Solana is designed the way it is. On every timeframe, Solana has been the most used network, more than the rest of the industry combined."

We’ve raised a $90M Series B led by @NEA to make cash earn for everyone, around the clock.
$50T of cash in Europe and the US earns next to nothing. Every point of missed yield costs $500B a year.
10,000+ users now hold nearly $3B in Spiko funds, up 15%+ a month.
Next: interest accrual in real time and treasury on autopilot.

agentic wealth management on solana 👀

I’ve joined @SolanaFndn as Chief Strategy Officer. What excites me is Solana’s position to bring Internet Capital Markets to life: connecting assets, trading and payments on one global network, open to anyone, around the clock.
You can already see it happening: $200M in tokenised equities traded in a single day, with roughly 63% outside US market hours.
My focus is helping drive the next phase of growth, bringing more institutions, enterprises, builders and users into that opportunity.
Thank you to @calilyliu and the team for the warm welcome. Excited to get going. 💜

Depending on how the wins blow, CT will tell you that low fees are good or bad, beautiful or ugly.
Wrong question to ask
If your goal is to be neutral global financial infrastructure for the internet, can you imagine debating whether $0.50 cent transactions are acceptable. Ask yourself who at scale wants to pay that much to move money when they don’t have to
If your goal is to be the best at fintech 3.0 then congratulate yourself on margin capture
Right question is - are you building the financial infrastructure for the internet or are you building fintech 3.0
Are you competing for 5.5B internet users or are you aiming to be the next PayPal.
Nothing wrong with the latter. It’s just a different game.
One of the world's largest banks on where Solana fits:
"Solana's particular niche is ultra low cost, ultra fast. That opens up things like micropayments, particularly as we move towards agentic AI."

Everything the Foundation does rolls up to two objectives: 1/ attract the best talent to Solana, 2/ attract capital to Solana. Capital is necessary to attract talent. Talent is necessary to attract capital. Neither stands alone.
"King making" is short sighted and self limiting: it caps how much of either can form.
The other extreme, “credible neutrality”, sounds like high-minded fairness. In practice it’s great for code but comes up short applied to humans, whose express role is to exercise judgment, at risk of fallibility. Aspiring to eliminate the need for taste, judgment, and leadership doesn’t remove human judgment. It pushes it into the shadows.
The principle we operate on is open meritocracy: actively facilitate competition, let the market decide. No one is bigger than the market - for capital, for talent, or for users.
On perps, the ecosystem (and the Foundation) holds many views, argued hard and usually reconciled. Sometimes what surfaces publicly are a subset of voices rather than the settled position.
In actuality, the Foundation has always supported diversity across the perps builder ecosystem. The public perps program and frontier traders are two of the more recent efforts. I don’t think our socials presence has fully represented the actual diversity of support or range of perspectives on perps. (This will change).
The claim that only one team in Solana can build fully on chain perps is just not true. Many have taken on the challenge in recent months.
Perps are very hard to build fully on chain, and fully on chain is more valuable to the future of DeFi (and Solana) than pool trading, off chain execution, or any number of alternative architectures. Dydx first attempted this in 2017. Nearly 10 years on, our industry is still working on it and Solana is very very close.
You can be clear-eyed that not all architectures are equal and still be welcoming to everyone who comes to build here.
Entrepreneurship is a brutal battle. Most attempts fail, for all kinds of reasons. The presence or absence of RTs aren’t high on that list.
Our job is to try to attract the best talent and capital to Solana to compete. The Foundation doesn’t decide who succeeds or fails - the market does.

Starting today —
One of the largest wealth management firms in the world has made the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF $BSOL available to their advisors and clients.
Yet another sign Solana will be a key part of the mainstream chapter of crypto.
Delighted to see this space maturing.
