Hackers have reportedly taken control of refrigeration systems across multiple countries, raising freezer temperatures as high as 50°C and forcing stores to throw away huge quantities of food.
More than 50 stores in Belgium alone were affected, alongside supermarkets in Sweden, Luxembourg, Ireland and Estonia. At least 17 businesses in the Netherlands also reported attacks.
The attacks come weeks after around 700 French supermarkets suffered similar incidents.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon is investigating suspected cyberattacks behind freezer failures at 6+ US military commissaries.
No perpetrators have been identified, and links between the incidents remain unconfirmed.
