Wow, this is what Yemen looked like in the 1960s under British rule. That was over half a century ago, but it looked decades more advanced than Yemen does today.
It’s almost unbelievable compared to what the country has become. And it’s a testament to how quickly a country can collapse once Islam reigns supreme.

Before signing for Manchester United, Everton pushed Wayne Rooney to sign for Chelsea in the summer of 2004, at just 18 years old. Rooney refused, but United wanted to wait a year, so he told them that if they did not act he would join Newcastle on a deal that let him leave after a season if United came back in.
Rooney handed Everton a transfer request on 27 August, after a £20m bid from Newcastle was rejected by the club. He signed with Manchester United on 31 August, a few hours before the deadline, for £20m rising to about £27m with add-ons.
He had broken a metatarsal at Euro 2004 and had not played for three months. His debut came four weeks after signing, on 28 September at Old Trafford, in the Champions League against Fenerbahçe. Rooney said he spent the night before looking at the clock, hoping it would be morning.
He scored in the 17th minute, in the 28th, and with a free kick in the 54th. United won 6-2. Fenerbahçe’s coach Christoph Daum said he could become the player of the century.
At the final whistle Rooney asked referee Frank De Bleeckere for the match ball. He was reportedly told “That’s for me”, and the referee laughed. Ferguson reportedly went to find De Bleeckere himself and came back with the ball. Rooney said he couldn’t thank him enough.
Today, Wayne Rooney turns 41. Happy birthday Wazza.

Stellar just recorded its first institutional repo transaction, and this is the kind of development worth watching.
AscendFi and M1X Global completed the transaction using USDm1, a sovereign bond backed by U.S. Treasuries, as collateral.
This means, Repo transactions are a major part of traditional financial markets, allowing institutions to borrow against securities.
Bringing this activity onto blockchain infrastructure shows how tokenized assets could become useful in real financial operations.
This goes beyond retail crypto trading. We're talking about institutions using blockchain to facilitate financial transactions. $XLM

🚨 BREAKING: STELLAR COMPLETES ITS FIRST INSTITUTIONAL REPO TRANSACTION!
Ascend Markets and M1X Global have announced the successful completion of the first institutional repurchase agreement on the Stellar blockchain.
This development demonstrates how blockchain technology can support institutional financing using tokenized sovereign debt as collateral.
And the technical details are particularly interesting.
🏦 WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?
Ascend Markets and M1X Global executed an institutional financing transaction using USDM1, a digital sovereign bond issued by the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
USDM1 is denominated in U.S. dollars and secured by short duration U.S. Treasury instruments on a 1:1 basis.
The transaction was executed directly on Stellar Mainnet through smart contracts.
📊 HERE ARE THE KEY DETAILS:
✅ 72 consecutive automated hourly financing renewals.
✅ Three days of continuous operation between October 16 and October 19, 2026.
✅ Financing continued overnight and during the weekend without manual intervention.
✅ USDM1 sovereign bonds were used as collateral.
✅ The financing rate was SOFR plus 10 basis points, equivalent to 3.98% annualized.
✅ Chainlink Data Feeds for USDC on Stellar were used as a price oracle.
✅ Smart contracts managed financing, repayment and collateral release.
✅ Total Stellar network fees for the automated renewals amounted to less than one cent.
🌐 WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Repurchase agreements are a fundamental component of traditional financial markets.
Banks, investment funds and institutional trading firms use these transactions to obtain short term financing by pledging securities as collateral.
However, traditional financial infrastructure often depends on banking hours, settlement windows and multiple operational intermediaries.
This transaction demonstrates that institutional financing can operate continuously through blockchain infrastructure.
Instead of relying on manual processing, smart contracts can automatically manage financing operations and collateral movements.
🏛️ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR STELLAR?
Stellar is increasingly being used for financial applications beyond international payments and stablecoin transfers.
Tokenized assets, institutional settlement and programmable financing represent additional areas where blockchain infrastructure can provide practical value.
However, an important distinction must be made.
This was a completed institutional transaction, not evidence that the entire repo market is migrating to Stellar.
The companies have not disclosed the size of the financing, and the transaction does not automatically translate into significant demand for XLM.
The next milestone will be seeing whether financial institutions begin conducting these operations regularly and at greater scale.
For me, that is the most interesting part of this development.
The future of blockchain adoption will not depend exclusively on how many assets are tokenized.
It will also depend on whether those assets can be used in real financial operations.
And this transaction provides a concrete example of that possibility.

Ireland put the tweeter on trial, not the groper
I cannot believe the resources the state has mustered to go after a guy for making a tweet.
I'm writing this on the lunch break of Kirk Loco's trial in Bray, County Wicklow, about an hour south of Dublin. Kirk is being prosecuted for a tweet warning young women about migrant men harassing girls on a public bus. The tweet was true. And the man he warned about was in the courtroom today as the prosecution's main witness.
I can't identify him. He's a refugee claimant, and the lawyers and police warned me not to say anything that could reveal who he is. I'll say only that he needed an Arabic translator.
He testified he did nothing wrong, that he was just looking for a place to plug in his phone. Then he said his phone fell on the floor, which is why he got up and sat down next to the teenage girls. He never explained why he moved from the seat in front of them to the seat beside them, blocking the aisle.
According to the girl, he groped her, his belt was undone and his pants were so low his pubic hair was visible. She was so frightened she fled downstairs on the double-decker bus.
How do we know all this? There were about 10 CCTV cameras on that bus. They show him moving back and forth around the girl. They show that when the bus stopped and it was clear he was in trouble, he went to the back and played possum. Thirty-eight seconds from chatting to another passenger to out cold.
The driver testified he was obviously faking. Asked about that, he told the court: “I'm known as a very quick sleeper.”
I've been to 100 trials in my life, maybe more, and I don't think I've ever seen a shiftier witness. He took two or three positions on every question and switched mid-answer. I don't think the judge was buying it either.
Laoise de Brún, the barrister we're crowdfunding for Kirk, sliced and diced him on cross-examination. It was like shooting fish in a barrel.
Then a senior Garda took the stand and talked about the refugee accommodation at Newtownmountkennedy. He described the migrant men there as “vulnerable.”
Irish teenage girls are allegedly being harassed, and the men are the vulnerable ones?
He also described an incident where men from that centre were filming young girls at a sporting event. His response was to have them delete the videos — he deleted the evidence.
There's a term in psychology, DARVO: deny, attack, reverse victim and offender. That's what I watched today. The whole system is upside down. The hero of this story, according to the prosecution, is a man who admitted touching this girl and having his pants down. The villain is the man who warned the neighbourhood.
This is Kirk's 10th court appearance. He faces possible jail. The trial is only half over, and I'll have more from inside the courtroom.
If you want to help pay for Kirk's lawyers, and for Hugh Fagan, who goes on trial Tuesday, please go to IrishFreeSpeech.com.
I don't think I'm easily shocked. I've seen too much. But I have never seen anything like this. Ireland needs help.
