I’m beyond saddened to hear the news of Marcus Kronick’s passing. Marcus WAS sports in this town. He loved CofC. He loved The Stingrays. He loved the Riverdogs. He loved his alma mater, UAB. He was my company on so many hundreds of afternoons and evenings at Patriots Point. At the Coliseum. At TD Arena. At Joe Riley Park. He was iconic. His knowledge of Charleston sports was unsurpassed. But more, he was simply a good person. A caring soul. He laughed. He thought every pick off was a balk. He knew statistics and baseball cards more than anybody I know. He sat and told me story after story after story. They really are the soundtrack of so many years of covering games across town. I remember he was so missed during Covid, CofC coaches purchased a Marcus cutout to place in the seats. We chatted about every Jewish holiday and Jewish athlete known to man. I remember tearing up I was laughing so hard when he was yelling about a certain player hitting a home run on Passover and that he was “fueled by matzah” He didn’t lose a sports argument. No last name was ever needed. In lowcountry sports, he was simply- Marcus. Ask any coach who has patrolled our sidelines, dugouts or benches. They’ll know the voice. It’ll be missed so dearly. May his memory be a blessing.

South Carolina State Football
@SCState_FbAug 6
💎 GEMS OF GREATNESS 💎 Today, your South Carolina State Football Bulldogs had the privilege of hearing from Chris Singleton @csingleton__2 —former professional baseball player, best-selling author, nationally recognized speaker, and a living example of resilience. After experiencing unimaginable tragedy with the loss of his mother in the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting, Chris chose forgiveness over bitterness and purpose over pain. His message challenged our Bulldogs to become men of character, lead with love, and understand that adversity doesn’t define you—your response does. Championships are built on more than talent. They’re built on faith, resilience, accountability, and the courage to keep moving forward when life gets hard. Thank you, Chris Singleton, for pouring into our program and reminding our Bulldogs that true greatness is measured by the impact you leave on others. @SCStateAthletic @MEACSports @coachberry77 #PayTheFEE #DigDEEP #RaiseTheBAR #STATEofMind 🔴🔵🐶🏈

Miracles Witnessed While Filming of The Passion of the Christ: ✝️ No Hollywood studio would agree to make The Passion of the Christ, so Mel Gibson decided to create his own production company and fund the entire film himself. While casting the role of Jesus, Mel Gibson warned Jim Caviezel: "Playing Christ will be incredibly difficult. If you do this, you'll likely be rejected by Hollywood." Jim took a day to pray. Then he told Mel: "We have to make it, even if it is difficult. My initials are J.C., and I am 33 years old. The same age as Christ. I didn't realize that until now." Mel paused: "You're really scaring me, you know." And hung up the phone. What followed was the most brutal movie role in Hollywood history. – Caviezel lost 45 pounds – Was struck by lightning twice – Whipped accidentally, leaving a 14-inch scar – Dislocated his shoulder – Suffered pneumonia & hypothermia after hanging the cross for hours in only a loincloth – Filming the crucifixion took 5 weeks – Later required TWO open-heart surgeries due to stress from the role And still, his purpose was clear: "I didn’t want people to see me. I just want them to see Jesus. Conversions will happen through that.” And they did: - Pedro Sarubbi, the actor who played Barabbas, said of Cavezel: “His eyes had no hatred... only mercy and love.” He later converted to Christianity. - Luca Lionello (Judas): Former atheist, converted to Christianity after the film & baptized his children - A Muslim technician on the movie converted to Christianity after the film. Countless millions around the world were converted to Christianity through the film. It grossed $611 million worldwide, becoming the most successful R-rated film in history. But more than that—it changed hearts around the world showing the true pain of Christ’s suffering. Jim Caviezel now proclaims Christ boldly: A role that nearly destroyed him became the one that saved countless others.

Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.

Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.
