this is why i just can’t find it in me to give a fuck about most of these new indies that just shove crucial information down your throat in what’s supposed to be a pilot. they don’t leave their audience (or characters) any room to breathe
being a fan of things that require you to actually use your brain does kinda make you crazy. my standards are so high because i like it when games and tv shows challenge you to figure shit out yourself based on foreshadowing and implications and general overarching themes
it also makes it so i just can’t enjoy media with similar concepts that have already been done in a far more compelling and interesting way. like what’s the point i can just get that at home
my main issue with the Hot New Indie Pilot circulating rn is that it completely reheats venture bros’ nachos without understanding Why all that shit worked so well
the whole guild and osi bubble that effectively controls almost everything behind the scenes ends up being easy to digest, and thus gets you completely invested in what is essentially just looney tunes bullshit in a professional setting. and it fucking rules
