Why would anyone care about the removal of civil rights, corrupt politicians profiteering, electoral fraud, wholesale climate change denial, environmental destruction? Who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

A lot of superbly fragile people in the #GBBO tag this week who don’t think vegans, or coeliacs deserve to have nice things.

Crazy to think that the number of people killed by motorists *in supermarket car parks alone* is greater than the number of people killed by cyclists *anywhere*, yet our focus is always solely on the latter
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in a supermarket car park in Sunbury-on-Thames, police have said. More here: bbc.in/4A3V6X9

Politicians will gladly fight to limit e-bikes to 15MPH, but get really uncomfortable when you bring up the primary source of danger on city streets.

The "war against motorists" barely registers when drivers can get clean away with unprovoked violence, even when it's recorded.

This cunt dodged jail. Absolutely NO JUSTICE.
Road rage driver Joseph Hedley was in court this week pleading guilty to assault. Cyclist Iain Brown was left with a serious brain injury, including a fractured skull & bleeding on the brain. Hedley will be sentenced next month. thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/cou…

Feigning concern for “livestock” or animals you’re enslaving and murdering for profit, is a wild move.
Should fireworks be banned across the UK as they distress livestock and pets?

You can always tell when something in Britain has been pedestrianised because the chat swaps from “if those feckless disabled scroungers can walk to the kitchen, they can get a job” to “what of the poor, ailing disabled who need to be driven directly to the shop doorstep?”
Apparently if you are a plumber or a painter you won't be able to go shopping in Oxford Street anymore.

Things that are a good litmus test of a person’s character: Returning shopping trolley or not Attitude towards bottle caps being attached Attitude towards pedestrianisation of city centres Care for animals (wild AND livestock) School meals The way they drive around cyclists

Sad to see Vinyl Villains will close in January after 43 yeard in the business. Sad, yes. But that longevity is a tremendous success! Good luck to Andy and any new ventures ahead.

Brian May resigned from the RSPCA, the organisation created specifically to protect animals from cruelty, because he no longer believed it was doing enough to prevent that cruelty. His decision, announced on Instagram, quickly turned into something much bigger. Ricky Gervais and Joanna Lumley joined other celebrities in calling for change, more than 60 animal protection organisations signed a petition, the RSPCA opened an internal investigation, and its own Chief Executive eventually announced that he would step down. May had served as a Vice President of the RSPCA since 2012. For twelve years he had raised money and campaigned for animal welfare. But in September 2024 he learned what had been happening on some farms carrying the RSPCA Assured label. Investigations had uncovered overcrowding, poor hygiene, and cases of physical abuse on more than 40 certified farms. Major supermarkets were signed up to the scheme, so customers could see the RSPCA label and believe they were paying extra for higher standards. May gave the organisation time to respond. In the end he felt the response was completely inadequate. On September 26, 2024, he posted his resignation letter on Instagram. “It is with profound sadness and not without massive soul-searching that today I have to offer my resignation as a vice-president of the RSPCA. Good folks out there are still paying extra for animal produce with the RSPCA sticker on it — thinking they are protecting farm animals from cruelty. In the end there was no other option for me.” The following day Bryan Adams, Moby, Ricky Gervais, Joanna Lumley and others signed an open letter urging the RSPCA to abandon the scheme. More than 60 animal protection organisations signed it. The RSPCA launched an internal review and its Chief Executive announced he would step down by the end of the year. Brian May walked away from the animal protection organisation he had supported for twelve years because he believed it was not providing enough protection to animals. And somehow there may be no decision more perfectly Brian May than that.

The thing about Google clearing a forest in Finland without permits is that they decided that whatever fine they might face is worth it. It doesn’t cost them as much as not getting the land cleared. Because like ALL things, if the punishment is a fine, it isn’t really illegal for rich people.

Britain had about 30 million hedgehogs in the 1950s; we've got under 875,000 today. The population has dropped by about 97%. Shocking.
