I trust my children to make wise reading choices. I trust parents to have mature discussions with their own kids about what they choose to read and why. I trust teachers and librarians to curate their book collections without government interference.
I may not love em dashes as much as Emily Dickinson, but I think I might love them as much as John Green does 😅

Thanks to @swankmotron for this beautiful, honest, and common sense piece in @CityWeekly that clearly explains the incredible value of books like Blankets. Books. Help. Teens. Banning books harms them.
In the new @CityWeekly, I wrote a direct response to @KenIvoryUT’s disingenuous, lie-filled “defense” of Utah’s draconian book banning through the lens of Craig Thompson’s masterpiece from @DandQ, Blankets. (cc @LetUtahRead @LUWriters) cityweekly.net/utah/the-case…
Powerful piece about reading freedom. Banned books save lives! This is a must-read.

This is a disturbing aspect of how the new book banning law is being implemented. Books being banned can’t even be donated, they must be destroyed. Sign up to follow along as this situation develops letutahread.org/signup

I'd buy a pickle car in a hot second

ALT Comic strip by Tom Gauld. CHARACTER 1: "It's hard to get excited about these new eletric vehicles when I've seen much more ambitious possibilities in ficiton." CHARACTER 2: "Sci-fi fan, huh?" CHARACTER 1: "Uhh... yeah. Sci-fi." THIRD PANEL ILLUSTRATION: The pickle car, apple car, and hotdog car from Richard Scarry's children's books
