I caught a Tesla Cybercab being moved around at a New York showroom, and it had a steering wheel. Whether it's the way they just cut an opening to stick the steering wheel in, or the rag tossed right next to it, the whole thing is just so crude 😂

Tesla is such a mercurial brand. Every time you roast them, you’d better be ready to eat your words. I’ve had Tesla’s lineup shot as my desktop wallpaper for years. But after seeing last week’s version (Pic 1), I finally gave up. Without my beloved Model S, that lineup looked downright bleak. And then this week, they drop an absolute banger like Pic 2... While I probably won’t set these new cars as my wallpaper, the atmosphere is a total 180 from a week ago. Tesla’s entire current lineup is now what you see in Pic 3. My biggest regret is not grabbing the full set of Roadster 2 prototype press photos from the Gallery before yesterday—still the best vehicle design in Tesla’s history, in my book. If anyone has a zip file of those high-res press shots, please hook me up!

Same week Tesla showed off a flying Roadster built with SpaceX engineers, a maker in China named A-Yu built a flying skateboard — with help from an AI agent phone (STEPX Neo). Then rode it into the phone's launch event. Flying cars take rocket scientists. Flying skateboards now take one person and an agent. That's what excites me about AI. @elonmusk, you'd appreciate this one. m.youtube.com/watch?v=TUphy1…

Here are two humorous comments I recently came across in the Chinese market regarding the EV brand XPeng: The first one goes: "XPeng owners are disposable" (a pun on Xiaopengyou, which means "little friends" or "kids" in Chinese). It implies that due to product design and quality issues, once you buy one, you rarely have any desire to purchase from the brand again. The second one is: "The best XPeng is an ID.UNYX." This plays on the idea that Volkswagen's ID.UNYX in China incorporates XPeng's core tech, but delivers significantly better overall build quality. Just sharing for a quick laugh. This is a Chinese all-electric sports car called the Qiantu K50. It was originally reported that several American companies were interested in this platform, but unfortunately, the company has since gone out of business in China.

A friend sent me some real-life photos of the European-spec Tesla Semi from the IAA Transportation show in Hannover. Due to European regulations, it ditches the US version's light bar across the front, making it feel a lot more utilitarian. I asked my friend to snap a few different angles, but I ended up with just these three practically identical shots—you can definitely tell he's a total straight guy...

After a nearly year-long delay, Tesla has finally launched the Model Y Performance in China, priced at 369,000 RMB. Its most direct rival in this segment, the Xiaomi YU7 GT, comes in at 429,900 RMB, alongside a crowded field of spacious, full-size SUVs from numerous competing brands.

The smart #2 has appeared in the declaration images from China's MIIT; the compact EV that European customers want is here. Judging from the notes indicating that both cameras and radars can be opted out of, it is highly likely that this car will be priced under 100,000 RMB in China.

The outrage American users feel about Europe barring FSD is comparable to the resignation Chinese users feel about the US blocking Chinese EVs.

Xpeng is recalling a total of 33,473 Xpeng X9 vehicles produced between August 8, 2023, and August 11, 2025. For some vehicles within the scope of this recall, fluctuations in the manufacturing process have caused a decrease in the airtightness of the front air springs. After prolonged use in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, the front air springs may slowly leak air, triggering the malfunction indicator light and a text warning. In extreme cases, this can affect the vehicle's handling, posing a safety hazard. Quality issues regarding the air suspension on this flagship Xpeng model had already been circulating on Chinese social media over the past few years, and now there is finally an official explanation.

I wonder if the European and American EV enthusiasts who follow me have paid attention to XPeng's launch of the L03 in Munich today. This event has been hyped by the Chinese media as a victory for Chinese cars over the "inventors of the automobile." However, compared to the hardware, technology, or even the "physical AI" that XPeng talks about, I am actually more concerned about what kind of corporate culture and brand image this company will bring to Europe and the rest of the world. Domestically in China, due to recurring sales struggles in recent years, XPeng replaced its marketing team. Since then, they have shifted away from their previous strategy of building a tech-focused image and turned toward a much cheaper pursuit of internet traffic. Aside from their early technical frictions with Tesla, XPeng has pulled off some absurd stunts in China over the years. These include "faking a police report claiming someone stole their chips at a launch event," and the appalling act of "recreating a competitor's car accident while completely disregarding the feelings of the victims." On the product side, they have also strayed from the highly original designs of the early P7 and G9, moving toward a GX model style that is a blatant copy of the Land Rover Range Rover. Therefore, I am very curious to see what kind of competitive strategy they will adopt moving forward. Will they build a completely different product image in Europe—reserving these absurd tactics solely for China—or will they bring the outrageous behavior I just mentioned to global consumers as well?

BYD founder Wang Chuanfu announced that all BYD models can now be equipped with the urban smart driving navigation feature as an option for 12,000 RMB, stating that this is strictly the cost price. It is fair to say that China's adoption rate of advanced smart driving technology is now higher than that of any other country in the world. In the event of a traffic accident caused by the assisted driving system while the urban navigation feature is active, BYD will provide full compensation. This includes the costs for vehicle repairs, as well as any third-party damages...
