في عام 2009، كانت المواجهات بين القوات السعودية والحوثيين على الحدود الجنوبية، بعد تسلل عناصر حوثية إلى الأراضي السعودية.

بحسب التقارير الإعلامية وروايته المتداولة، تمكن الفيفي من التسلل إلى صفوف الحوثيين متخفيًا بملابس محلية، وظهر بينهم على أنه أحد أبناء القبائل اليمنية، مستفيدًا من إتقانه للهجات ومعرفته بالعادات الاجتماعية.
عاش تجربة خطيرة وسطهم، بينما لم يكونوا يعرفون هويته الحقيقية، واستطاع جمع معلومات استخباراتية مهمة عن تحركاتهم وأوضاعهم، ساعدت في تكوين صورة أوضح عنهم لدى الاستخبارات السعودية . يوم اكتشفوه الحوثين سموه ( يهودي فيفاء) بطل سعودي نفتخر فيه، خاطر بنفسه في سبيل وطنه، وأثبت أن حب الوطن مواقف وتضحيات، 🇸🇦🇸🇦
