After playing FF7 on PC, I remember I kept the Yamaha drivers around because I liked midi music. How far we have come.

Proton VPN just shared that it received 47 legal orders through June this year, all seeking to identify users behind specific server IPs and timestamps. Every one was denied, because its no-logs policy leaves no connection data to hand over.
Per its transparency report, updated July 14, that brings the total since 2019 to 458 orders, with zero fulfilled. The company keeps no connection logs under Swiss law, so there is nothing to produce even when an order is binding.

PlayStation gains power over the consumer by disallowing new physical games and forcing digital.
For example, in the EU, PlayStation’s ToS says your digital games can be deleted after 36 months of account inactivity. All your games you paid for, poof, gone. See Section 21.

The internet could change if the U.S. House passes the KIDS Act today to "protect children." Critics warn it could mean de facto age checks for everyone and weakened encrypted communications.
The KIDS Act is a package of around a dozen bills that pairs a revised Kids Online Safety Act with new age-verification, AI chatbot, and messaging rules.
Digital rights group EFF warns the design would pressure platforms to age-check all users, not just minors, since liability can attach when a service "should have known" a user's age, and flags new rules touching encrypted and disappearing messages. Sponsors Brett Guthrie (R) and Frank Pallone (D) say it's kids-safety protection and note KOSA's text says age verification isn't required.
