Replying to @AFCWimbledon
@AFCWimbledon missed the first 25mins today thanks to the club's total communications failure over the new bag size policy. Which apparently only applies to some of the ground anyway?! How hard wd it be to do a phased introduction ffs?@WomblesDream

And I'd love someone to tell me what the security risk posed by a normal-sized rucksack is anyway? Shite welcome back to Plough Lane for the new season, thanks very much. Cc the good folks at @WomblesDream

@WomblesDream so they've just reversed the "no rucksacks" policy.. water bottle cap gate all over again - introduce a stupid policy without consultation, everyone complains, do a 180 🙄 you'd think there'd be a better way for a fan-owned club to explore such changes, wouldn't you

My favourite of the web of deranged 'Yookay' myths is the idea that London is dirtier now than it was. It is literally the cleanest it has been in my entire lifetime! That's what gentrification is, and does. But then apparently the poster is Lebanese, so how would he know?
Isn’t that London is now an unliveable hellhole, it is still Basically Fine in many parts - is more that it is undergoing a process of ‘enshittification’ where quality of life on certain metrics gets slowly worse over time. So you can tolerate it but things are worse than before

I’ve curated many exhibitions but never thought I would be in one..! Congrats to @KasiaTee & @danhancox for their @CursedObjectsUK exhibition about museum shops at the @peltzgallery. Some of the museum pens which I’ve been collecting since I was a child are featured. Go see it!

Echoing @Jodi7768 recommendation to buy @danhancox superb new book exploring how the popular perception of crowds being inherently violent is based on 19th-century pseudoscience and why elites are terrified of mass social movements, which I reviewed for @BooksinFive below! 1/5

3/ Drawing inspiration from Dan Hancox in Multitudes, we see that isolation isn’t a bug — it’s a deliberate design to control us. The forces that profit from our atomization have long underestimated the power of collective celebration. #ResistAtomization

Cannot recommend this new ⁦@VersoBooks⁩ book by ⁦@danhancox⁩ highly enough. There is something fascinating on every page. I have been wearily, bitterly jealous of Dan’s excellent journalism for years and this has only added to that

Birds are very cautiously singing outside and the new Tribune is out, burnished with one of the all-time classic covers. I reviewed @danhancox’s excellent Multitudes for it
Our latest issue, ‘Gastropolitics’, is out now. From English food riots to Polish socialist milk bars and farmers’ uprisings in India, read Alex Niven, Juliet Jacques, Owen Hatherley and Fran Newton. A full year of print for just £20: tribunemag.co.uk/subscribe?c…

"The nameless oppressed are who Benjamin wanted us to honour: the many tens of thousands of civilians killed in Gaza and in Sudan. The many more who have died trying to cross the Mediterranean, or beneath the crenellations of Fortress Europe" @danhancox ft.com/content/fe8d0d96-ccbf…

Magnificent piece by ⁦@danhancox⁩ in @ft on Walter Benjamin “It is more difficult to honour the memory of the anonymous than that of the renowned. Historical construction is devoted to the memory of the anonymous.” There is still work to be done! on.ft.com/4agi8yz

Multitudes: How Crowds Made the Modern World by @danhancox - “Champions the erotic, capitalism-subverting, ego-transcending crowd against those who...have striven to batter the life out of it.” – Stuart Jeffries theguardian.com/books/2025/j…
