Last spring, I was writing about an old coal plant property in Indiana that had been sitting unused for almost a decade. Who would buy a contaminated site like that, I wondered, only to leave it undeveloped? 🧵

Thank you to @FundFIJ for supporting this work, and to @caroline_jones_ for all her help along the way. Please note, the content of this article has no bearing on my work for the State Department, and the bulk of reporting was completed prior to starting there.

Pupdate: she got adopted! Thank you to everyone who shared this.
Absolutely losing it right now. There's an iconic scene in Shrek 2 where Fairy Godmother sings 'Holding out for a Hero.' She starts by telling the pianist, "Put it in C minor," and then he... PROCEEDS TO PLAY THE ENTIRE SONG IN G MINOR?!? How did we let them get away with this??

Dog Emhoff (“Emmie”) is looking for her forever home. Lover of hugs and stuffed animals, mortal enemy of personal space—she’s a wiggly, affectionate, house-trained sweetheart who is available for adoption now. DM me or share with anyone who might be interested!
A professional update: On Monday, I'll be joining the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR), where I'll be supporting the global shift to secure, low-carbon energy. I can't wait to get started!

New article! I spoke with Alexandra Klass about a forthcoming paper she wrote with Hannah Wiseman. It explores an interesting idea: directing renewable energy projects to brownfield sites. Check in out @heatmap_news heatmap.news/climate/clean-e…
