Um, ok. Not sure why this is the final straw for me but it is. Buh-bye I guess... Time to catch up with everyone else and download Threads maybe?
This is some good shit for real
I'm thrilled to announce that I'm joining the Criminal Justice Dept. at @JohnJayCollege.
This is such a weird article. Kinda seems like the Times is laundering these folks’ cover story? Like, gal’s husband is a “photographer” for Wagner? Does that not strain credulity just a little bit?.. nytimes.com/2023/07/02/world…
Ahh ok. Nightmare getting to Melbourne makes a lot more sense now
“Good can’t lead the way when @united had a year to address many of the problems we are experiencing now, nor when United is running crew scheduling with nearly half the number of schedulers on the job at an airline one fifth the size.”

Turns out Adams didn’t want to be mayor so much as he wanted to be police commissioner nytimes.com/2023/06/17/nyreg…
Not a great look
At a respite center for asylum seekers in Manhattan’s east village, the Adams administration reportedly got physical with a state legislator who had scheduled a tour and has continued to deny him access. evgrieve.com/2023/05/missed-…
Disgusting NIMBY behavior by our local officials that will only feed anti-immigrant rhetoric. There are empty hotels and people who need them. NYC is footing the bill. If we’re lucky some of these folks will choose to stay and contribute to our communities. What’s the downside?
Local police officers and sheriff’s deputies kept watch on the grounds of a hotel in the town of Newburgh, setting up a potential showdown with the expected arrival of a busload of migrants sent there by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. gothamist.com/news/in-hudson…

I think an underemphasized mechanism of empathy loss in average people who became concentration camp guards is that the conditions in concentration camps made people disgusting. They had constant diarrheal diseases, didn’t have resources to clean themselves & then lost the energy

This is what happens when you, as a generation, spend your life learning sweet MMA moves instead of training to respond compassionately to people in need.

Congratulations to Professor Tarun Banerjee for winning a grant from the @RussellSageFdn and the @gatesfoundation to examine the pivotal role of the civil rights movement in the implementation of the war on poverty, 1965-71.
Using the War on Poverty in the 1960s as a case study, sociologist Tarun Banerjee will investigate what factors best explain the implementation of federal policy and contribute to understanding the impact of historical movements on current policies. #CivilRightsMovement #WarOnPoverty #ResearchGrants

Study after study has proven that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than U.S. citizens.
Statistically speaking, you're measurably safer living in a town filled with average undocumented immigrants than a town filled with average native-born citizens.

ALT Bar chart showing Texas crime rates, 2012-2018, divided by violent crimes, property crimes, and drug violations. Each type of crime is then divided into U.S.-Born citizens, legal immigrants, and undocumented immigrants. In each one, the group which commits the most crimes is U.S.-born citizens, followed by legal immigrants, and then undocumented immigrants last.
261000 illegal immigrants have committed some 430000 crimes including 800 homicides, 800 kidnappings, & 5000 assaults in last decade in Texas… and our border has never been more exposed & dangerous. #EndBorderCrisis

This research will be presented to the John Jay Community on May 3rd, room L61, starting at 5 pm, and a reception in the Shiva gallery at 7 pm. Don’t miss out!
