How one small town at the center of the outbreak has cut infections virtually to zero: test all 3,300 in town, isolate the 3 percent who tested positive. Infection rate 10 days later down to .3 percent. ft.com/content/0dba7ea8-6713…

"It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks." -- Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Rush Limbaugh, February 24: rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2020/…

No industry -- not airlines, not hotels, not cruise ships -- should be bailed out. They can stay in business by borrowing at rock-bottom rates, using their assets as collateral. Taxpayer money should be used to bail out people, not corporations.

For the media the bar is so sooo low. It’s described as ‘remarkable’ and there are calls to ‘applaud’ the President being ‘the kind of leader we need”—‘at least in tone.’ This kind of take is embarrassing and pathetic. Finally the President appears to be doing his job.
Dana Bash: "This was remarkable from the president of the United States. -- This is an important thing to note and to applaud from an American standpoint, and from an human stand point -- he is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday."

There is a *huge* difference between UBI proposals that kick millions of people off Medicaid, SNAP, etc (aka people ending with net less $) w/o consent and a UBI proposal that provides people with net more in their lives. Conflating the two is dangerous and creates resistance.

@ICEgov just threatened to pick up a client of ours whose appeal is pending, because she missed an ISAP phone call, as her employer required her to work her minimum wage job and she could not answer the phone. Then they threatened to arrest the whole house when they come.

We've done direct payments to individuals in previous recessions (including the "recovery rebates" in 2008). One-time Keynesian stimulus when economy is bad ≠ monthly universal payments in perpetuity, regardless of economic conditions
BREAKING: Pres. Trump and Treasury Sec. Mnuchin say they're looking into sending Americans checks for $1,000 each to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus. They've released no details yet, but the idea echoes Andrew Yang's call for a universal 'Freedom Dividend'

COVID-19 has forced capitalists to confront an inconvenient truth: that capital accumulation cannot happen without labour.

BREAKING: We can, of course, afford a Green New Deal. That’s been true all along.
.@FoxNews has learned that @realDonaldTrump will ask Congress for more than $800 billion in economic stimulus: $500 bil in payroll tax cut, $250 bil in Small Business Association loans, $58 billion for the airlines, and a smattering of other items.

So I’m hearing many myths about #COVID-19 and would like to quickly clear the record. Coronavirus will go away in Sumer months. Wrong. Previous pandemics didn’t follow weather patterns plus as we enter summer, there will be winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Virus is global.

What I keep coming back to with restaurants: In 1990, manufacturing had 3X more jobs than food services. Today, they're practically tied. What would be the national response if American manufacturing were facing an extinction level event? theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv…

Pelosi’s defense”of the paid sick leave loophole illustrates a basic problem which is: The GOP is so callously indifferent that the Senate took a three day weekend during a pandemic, and elected Dems believe it’s important on principle to meet that callous indifference halfway.

The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!

Here is an idea, someone in Congress PLEASE take it & run with it: Congress should pass legislation providing waivers & federal reimbursement to state Medicaid programs that opt to expand coverage to cover all #coronavirus testing & treatment for all people, regardless of income.

A female VP is not the same as endorsing a feminist agenda. Joe, up until last summer you supported the Hyde Amendment, which would prohibit federal funding for abortions.
My running mate will be a woman. #DemDebate

Please Share: In NYC, school meals are available in every school from 7:30am-1pm. And it’s any school, so if you live closer to another school, go there.
