A golden snippet from one of our previous livestreams with @TradingInTheNow
"Periods of drawdown are statistical. They're not personal. And so, you have to be able to understand how to manage those periods. And so, after many years of experiencing pain and kind of rejecting this idea and then opening myself up to this, I came up with this philosophy which is something that I want to share with you and something that I had to remind myself of last week.
And that is this idea that time will always fix your frustration, but it will never fix your account balance. It doesn't matter what the market has done. Doesn't matter what mistakes I've made, it doesn't matter how I'm feeling in the moment. However frustrated I am, enough time spent away from the charts will eventually fix that frustration. It will bring that frustration from level 100 down to level 50 or 20 or 10 or to a point where it's far more manageable that you're not going to do something stupid in terms of how you manage risk.
However, if you decide not to have that detachment, if you decide not to have that time away and you decide that you want to try and beat your money back out of the markets, the likelihood is you could get lucky and win some money back and it's probably not the most favourable thing to do because all you're doing is ingraining a bad habit. But in the long term, what that generally leads to is a detriment in terms of your risk management. Whether you pay the price today or whether you pay the price at some point in the future, you're doing something wrong if you're not operating from a point of mental clarity."
Most traders don't lack a strategy.
They lack the discipline to follow it after three losses in a row.
Your edge only works if you stick with it.

Most trading accounts are private. Good months get screenshotted. Bad months disappear.
A DARWIN doesn't work like that. Every trade, every drawdown, every red month stays on the record.
That's exactly why it means something when it's green.

It's an incredible episode 👇
This was a great conversation with @kieran__duff courtesy of @DarwinexZero, where we covered plenty of ground on markets, macro, the constant desire to chase a narrative, the UK’s investing culture, and much else besides!

“This isn’t the dot com bubble. This is real revenues, real earnings, real P&L.”
That’s @MrMBrown on the AI rally, and it’s only the start of the conversation.
Michael has spent more than a decade on trading floors and research desks working out why markets move. On the new episode of Fly on the Fund Wall we get into how to stay objective when every feed is calling for a crash, and the real difference between a trader and an analyst. He also explains why calling the bottom in March 2020 was pure luck, and why everyone gets it wrong sooner or later.
The full episode goes live today at 5pm UK time on YouTube and Spotify.

If we extrapolate the numbers, if your win rate is truly 50%; did you know that over the next 500 trades, statistically, you are likely to encounter a maximum of around nine losing trades in a row?
Are you prepared for that?
