This photo says everything about the explosion of extreme wealth and its influence on society.
Such a concentration of wealth and power in a few hands is unprecedented and dangerous. 🧵

Parents of children in these stories didn't respond to letters or texts. An unordained elder in one of the four Idaho Followers of Christ churches told us the reason parents keep their children from the doctor is to teach them to avoid the sin of turning to medicine as adults.

🚨 THE US DEPENDS ON CHINA FOR CRITICAL MINERALS
Energy transition, Defense, Tech.
• 100% import reliant on 12 minerals
• 95%+ rare earths
• 83% antimony from #China
• 100% gallium + graphite
• 50%+ nickel, magnesium, germanium
China is the primary supplier across key inputs.
Why it matters:
• EVs need lithium, graphite
• Solar needs tellurium
• Chips need gallium, germanium
• Defense needs rare earths
This is leverage!

🪨🇺🇸The US imports 100% of 11 critical minerals.
Uranium sits at 99%.
That's the headline from the USGS 2026 minerals report.
The more telling part is who the US buys from.
🇨🇳China is the top supplier for graphite, tantalum, yttrium, bismuth, antimony and tungsten.
The country on the customs form isn't always where the mineral really comes from, though.
Most US gallium arrives from Canada🇨🇦.
China still produces the majority of the world's gallium.
That matters because Beijing has already used these minerals as leverage.
Gallium and germanium export controls in 2023.
Graphite later that year.
Antimony in 2024.
Then an outright ban on shipping gallium, germanium and antimony to the US.
Rare earths look slightly better on paper, at 67%.
Some of the dependence is on friends.
🇯🇵Japan for titanium and scandium.
🇰🇷South Korea for indium.
🇧🇷Brazil for niobium.
Some of it isn't…
Uranium comes from 🇰🇿 , Canada and Russia🇷🇺, just as Washington pushes to build more reactors.
Mining a mineral and refining it are 2 separate chokepoints.
The US is short on both.

Africa is sitting on the real energy transition bottleneck 🌍⚒️
This map isn’t about oil or gas.
It’s about critical minerals.
• Lithium, #copper, manganese, #RareEarths
• Artisanal and small-scale mining dominates supply
• High relevance, Low control and High geopolitical risk
The #energy transition doesn’t fail on demand.
It fails on where the metals come from.
Whoever secures supply from #Africa chains controls:
🔋 batteries
⚡ grids
🤖 EVs
🧠 industrial leverage
The next #commodity supercycle won’t start in London or New York.
It starts here.
