Look, if there’s an airplane crash with multiple fatalities, and your first questions are about the gender and ethnicity of the pilot, you do not have political opinions worth listening to.

Got to see Wildwood a second time around and it was even better. A rare kind of an animated film that has big scope and sincere storytelling, never talking down to it's audience nor sugarcoating it's dark story. If you love movies, you can't miss this in theaters!!

16 years of hard work, creativity, and passion… and WILDWOOD has made just $35M worldwide against a reported $100M budget. 💔 spending that long building a world this ambitious, only for it to struggle to find its audience. 🌲

Jacob Tremblay tells us how overwhelming it was to see the practical sets of ‘WILDWOOD’ in person. “You have establishing shots that pop up maybe for a couple of seconds in this film, and Laika went out of their way to make huge sets just for those couple of seconds.”

The awful comments hurt my heart. Yes she was young (the average age of Battle of Britain pilots was 20), but she kept her composure and communicated while banked 60 degrees, nose down, falling 20,000 ft in a 100 seconds. Only at the end did she lose it. Who wouldn't? Be kind 🥺

I've been in aviation for 2 and a half decades, I've lost several friends to accidents during my career. One college friend flew into a thunderstorm at night and the turbulence remove a wing from the aircraft. They found his body several miles from the aircraft crash site. He had recently been married. Aviation is a serious business. The safety record is impressive when one considers what we do thousands of times every day, all year, in all kinds of weather. Social media, individuals who have no idea what they are talking about, will pick apart the actions or inactions of the crew in this accident. Weather is unforgiving. No aircraft can handle everything that may be encountered. Maybe this crew could have done something different, but in the end, all crews do their best in any situation they encounter. Sometimes it isn't enough. When I have trained other pilots I have done my best to prepare them for the unexpected and the unforgiving reality that we operate in a dangerous environment doing something that is very unnatural. Fly safe.

I am definitely no aviation expert, but I was married to Lear Jet pilot who was employed as an instructor. I have two observations on the Florida crash: when my son was baby, we were going somewhere in the Lear Jet and I wondered about taking the car seat on the plane for him. My husband responded that when Lear Jets fail, there is no “gliding” to land – it “plummets” and a car seat is not going to save anybody, because it hits the ground so fast there will be nothing left, but scraps. My second comment is that the reason that he quit flight instructing is that the Lear Jet is a two pilot aircraft, and that creating intentional emergencies in the air to show a student how to correct was creating situations that could be too hard to overcome with just one competent pilot, was simply too dangerous of a way to make a living. Yes, there are such things as flight simulators, but they are an inadequate substitute for actual - and very expensive - flight hours, which makes cutting training corners appealing to both students and employers.

Idk man I think the lassie on the ATC recording sounds chilled & brave af for someone who is in the process of smashing into the ground headfirst at 300+ mph with no control. Maybe you just hate women

The pilots on this private jet were on the radio with air traffic control while it fell from higher than Mount Everest to a Florida street in about 80 seconds. You can hear them realize they aren't going to make it. Their trouble started right after a request that sounds totally reasonable. They asked to fly higher. This was a Learjet 60 carrying nine people from Austin to the Bahamas, a little over two hours into the trip. When they checked in with Miami Center at 35,000 feet, they were getting bounced around hard enough to swing their altitude 600 to 700 feet. They also had a thin layer of clear ice on the plane that the pilot called manageable. It was minus 47 Celsius outside. Then it started precipitating, so they asked to climb to 37,000 to get out of it, and Miami said okay. Climbing out of bad weather is standard stuff for pilots, and up that high it comes with a catch most of us have never heard of. The air is so thin that a jet has a weirdly small window of speeds it can safely fly. Go too slow and the wings stop holding it up, and if you go too fast, shockwaves start forming on the wings. Every thousand feet you climb, those two limits squeeze a little closer together. Pilots literally call the spot where they meet the coffin corner. A Learjet 60 normally cruises right around Mach 0.76, and its limit is 0.81. So even on a calm day it's flying pretty close to the edge, and turbulence knocks your airspeed up and down inside that window. Within seconds of starting the climb, the tracking data shows their groundspeed jumping from 437 to 505 knots as the jet started falling at almost 20,000 feet per minute. The pilot's mayday said the same thing. "We are in an overspeed condition, descending 20,000 feet per minute." Another call said they were banking. When you get those two at once, things get ugly fast. Once a jet blows past its speed limit, the wing can start pushing the nose down by itself, which adds speed, which pushes the nose down even harder. If the wings are tilted on top of that, the lift that normally holds the nose up is pointing off to the side. The nose keeps dropping and the plane winds into a spiral. Your gut tells you to pull back on the controls, and with the wings banked that mostly just tightens the spiral. You're supposed to level the wings first and only then pull up. Now try doing that inside a cloud where you can't see the horizon while the overspeed alarm is going off. By 12:49 Eastern they were down to 8,750 feet and dropping more than 32,000 feet per minute. That works out to about 360 miles an hour, straight down. At that speed the last 8,750 feet goes by in around 16 seconds. The dashcam video shows the jet coming in nearly vertical over Military Trail, with cars still driving on the road under it. It hit right next to a mobile home park. About 600 people who live there are being moved out, and officials say nobody on the ground was hurt, which is honestly hard to believe when you watch that fireball. The NTSB will probably take a year or more to officially say what caused this. The last thing on the radio was the controller repeating their tail number, November seven two two Bravo Delta, over and over, with nobody left to answer.
BREAKING: New footage captures the aircraft crash in Greenacres, Florida. Preliminary information suggests the aircraft that crashed is a business jet.

If you think that misogyny isn’t a thing in today’s society, let me point out that there were a million people who blamed “female incompetence” for a plane crash in Florida today, but not a single person blamed “male recklessness,” even though the pilot in question was a man.

I’ve had a number of messages asking to comment on the Lear crash. I’ve learned who the crew was, I did not know them, but I’m going to give them the respect and reverence they should be given. They were two young pilots out there doing what they loved to do. I also agree with everything Adam is saying here. I’m sick of the constant flow of negativity every time a female or minority is involved in an accident or incident. It’s too bad people are allowed to hide behind anonymous usernames.
A plane crashes in Florida, lives are lost, and within HOURS the blue-checkmark crowd is blaming a female pilot and screaming “DEI.” Here's the problem: They don't understand how a two-pilot cockpit works. As a pilot, I'm disgusted. Watch this before you embarrass yourself.
