Incredible stuff here @XfinitySupport. Service out all day, no sign of work being done, no way to reach a human.

The people that operate the tollbooth from Chicago onto the Indiana toll road should be put in prison.

Didn't know that @vrbo had become fully enshittified. Booking added more than a hundred dollars to the charge represented on the final booking page. Can't reach anyone. On minute 25 of a "3-5 minute" wait for a supervisor. Will never, ever use again.

Read @davidmfaris on the success of January 6th: “Virtually every person tasked with bringing Trump and his allies to justice for the effort to overturn the 2020 election trusted that some other institutions could get it done.” slate.com/news-and-politics/…

*Knocks* Is anyone home at Tablet? Are they just going to leave this bizarre error up in a widely-shared (and deeply insane) piece forever? Is it maybe because correcting the sequence of events exposes the whole thesis as absurd?

Oh c’mon. The story is not about rural food deserts. It explicitly talks about people driving hours to save absurdly small amounts of money on bread as part of an inflation narrative. If they were driving two hours for -all of their groceries- then why didn’t they say that?

Now might be a good time to re-evaluate which political party you support, unless you think mass deportations > saving children’s lives with vaccines.
Earlier in my career I did some research work for health experts and a lot of it had to do with vaccines. A key thing to me was that they had changed the value of the life of a child. We stopped just expecting a certain number of children to die from seasonal maladies. Miracle.

Perfectly fine to admit some mistakes were made, even to agree with almost everything in the NY Mag article about working class losses in NYC, without concluding we lost bc of 2017-era social media neologisms. C’mon.

New from @davedaley3 in @guardian: "The structural reform we so desperately need has become harder, as those from both the left and the right who prefer to govern without majorities... recognize it as a threat." theguardian.com/commentisfre…

1/ X's algorithm was changed in mid-July 2024 to systematically boost Republican-leaning accounts and Elon Musk's own account following his endorsement of Donald Trump, according to a newly released computational study of engagement from the Queensland University of Technology.⬇️

If you're looking for a handy list of Democrats who have no fucking clue what is about to hit and need their spines stiffened ASAP, this is a good place to start.
The 52 Democrats who voted in favor of a bill that would empower the Treasury Secretary to revoke nonprofit tax status of orgs based on judgment they're “terrorist-supporting.” There were concerns the bill would help government (especially Trump's) attack pro-Palestine groups.

Weird how Donald the Dove keeps picking national security hardliners who yearn for war with Iran to fill out his team.

Instead of someone “like a Ben Wikler” I would strongly recommend “Ben Wikler”
Watch the race for the next DNC chair. Pramila Jayapal, head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told me she’d “love to see somebody” who is “like a Ben Wikler.” Other progressives have also floated the Wisconsin Democratic Party leader’s name. politico.com/news/2024/11/10…

A lot of hot takes need to grapple with three facts: 1) that where Ds and Rs both invested hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign ads and turnout, D losses were roughly half where they were elsewhere.

3) there’s not a ton of survey/polling evidence that “working class cultural issues” beyond the border were determinative in this election and I’m already seeing fairly broad admission that Biden screwed it up.
