tbh it’s sad to see such a great operator chained to such a silly ecosystem (@base) with a golden handcuff
it’s just a total waste
create the future you’d be proud to hand your children
it’s in your hands. it is your sacred duty. it is your divine purpose

Btw, this is Mike from Neurosonic. They make devices the size of golf balls that detect strokes. Imagine this future: early detection of blocked arteries during blood draws, while in an ambulance on the way to the ER, routine Dr visits and so on. The amount of lives that will be saved will be astounding.
I waited six hours in the waiting room during my stroke and nearly died. I'm grateful I survived, so that I could meet Mike and get the chance to work with him on something I, through experience, completely understand.
Founders like this run through walls, but we can help usher in the future with them. Mike is looking for hospitals to work with - specifically neurology and stroke departments. If you are in leadership in any of the major systems, please reach out and I'll put you in touch.
Even though I was in one of the best hospitals in the world, and I exhibited most of the warning signs, I was still looked over as a migraine and triaged low on the emergency totem pole. Stroke victims need to be seen rapidly, and Neurosonic will allow us to triage more efficiently.
Today, I realized that their new office is one block away from when I first became aware something was off with my body. Mike is from Ireland and somehow his life path led to meeting me in a doorway as I was leaving and he was coming in to an event.
going to this
who wants to come
Elon Musk has just confirmed that @SpaceX will attempt to catch Starship on flight 15 next month.
They've released a new simulation video of what it will look like:
a few bitflips later
Elon Musk says a chip for space should run hot, since raising the temperature 20% in Kelvin cuts radiator mass in half, and that a multi-trillion parameter model does not care about a few bit flips
“Well, I guess you want to design it to be more radiation tolerant and run at a higher temperature. So roughly, if you increase the operating temperature by 20% in degrees Kelvin, you can cut your radiator mass in half. So running at a higher temperature is helpful in space."
"There’s various things you can do for shielding the memory, but neural nets are going to be very resilient to bit flips. So most of what happens for radiation is random bit flips."
"But if you’ve got, like, you know, a multi-trillion parameter model and you get a few bit flips, it doesn’t matter. Heuristic programs are going to be much more sensitive to bit flips than some giant parameter file. So I just design it to run hot. And I think you pretty much do it the same way that you do things on Earth, apart from make it run hotter.”
'the EU has spent over $200B on Russian fuel and is on-track to buy hundreds of billions more'
just in case anyone forgot
I hate qualifying arguments like this, but - everyone knows I am about as pro-Ukraine/anti-Russian as it gets. That regularly leads to friction between me and other Republicans, even ones who otherwise align 99%.
With that said, whining from Europeans and the American left about America buying $1B in diesel fuel from Russia is so out of touch with reality. The EU has spent over $200B on Russian fuel and is on-track to buy hundreds of billions more. Most of that was purchased by wealthy EU members who can absolutely afford alternatives.

great people really only care about being able to get things done
now that there's a government where change and progress is actually possible, talented people run to help
high IQ patriotism is BACK
Imagine growing up seeing the demopublican government uniparty be utterly incompetent for your entire life, unable to build new energy, exporting factories, failing over and over at its ambitions in space, becoming bigger and more bloated and slower year after year until it threatens to eat the entirety of the U.S. economy, with the same geriatric 90 year olds piddling away the future year after year
Then suddenly you have an administration which accepts a flood of young people in government at every level, from the lowest bureaucrats to the halls of the White House
There is fierce debate and plenty of conflict, but there are also motions in policy which we've only dreamed of for decades. Five nuclear reactors turn on under the DOE after decades of stagnation. America returns to orbit the moon
Imagine seeing that and the reaction of a sitting senator is “haha yeah let’s put those fuckin kids in jail to make an example!!”
public markets are pretty cool sometimes except when you make a car do a kickflip and the next day they do this
imo a kickflip is worth at least +10%

If anyone says that the Roadster demo wasn't cool take anything that they ever say and immediately throw it into the trash forever. If they can't even admit that this was freaking cool they have a COMPLETE ego problem. Blinded by hatred. Total derangement. Incurable. Terminal.
this is fantastic.

i would bet that every important company in silicon valley has a recording device planted in at least one conference room
it's comical how high trust these places are, and why russian/chinese operatives have such an easy time
Abdulrahman Alfozan, the OpenAI engineer arrested and charged with bugging a company conference room, admitted on an Arabic podcast released last month, uncovered by Pirate Wires, that Saudi Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s remarks at a Silicon Valley event inspired his decision to work in the United States.
Describing the 2016 event at which the Prince spoke, Alfozan says:
“My fellow graduates and I were debating: Should we go back [to Saudi Arabia] now, or work abroad for a few years first? That meeting with Prince Mohammed helped resolve this dilemma [...] the best place to build technical expertise is to work somewhere renowned — somewhere with world-class talent — learn from them, and then bring that expertise back to Saudi Arabia.”
Alfozan continues: “You learn from the source, then bring that expertise and knowledge back home, God willing.”
Pirate Wires translated the podcast from Arabic to English. More details from @EvanMilenko:
