Hurray! IPUMS USA now includes 2022 ACS data. 🎉 Also, be sure to check out improved versions of 19th century full count files and updated geography variables based on 2020 PUMAs! 👀 Come take a look at usa.ipums.org/usa/
We are celebrating 30 years of @ipums next month with a research showcase! Join us in person or virtually on October 13 to see research talks made possible because of IPUMS. ipums.org/ipums30
I'm excited to see talks by some excellent scholars (and hang out with them) and geek out about what's possible with IPUMS data.

New metro definitions published!
This is the big decennial update. Plus, it includes -- for the first time -- Connecticut metros defined using planning regions instead of counties.

I'm so proud of our son, Owen! He has been named the 2023 Honored Hero for the Twin Cities Take Steps walk, which raises money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. We'd appreciate any donations to The O Team! takesteps.crohnscolitisfound…
Crohn's and Colitis are invisible diseases that can be absolutely catastrophic. Medication has come far in the past 20 years, but there is still a long way to do. Owen is incredibly lucky that his case is handled by medication, but others aren't so lucky.

Please take 3 minutes to tell @ipums how you use their data and what changes you would like to see.

A real person reads your responses (👋) and summarizes them so we can prioritize among suggestions of how to make IPUMS even better.

Do you use @ipums data? Take a minute to share your feedback. I promise this survey takes less time to complete than harmonizing 2.5 billion person records’ worth of data and making them freely available 😉
We need your help! This is the last week to complete our data user survey (z.umn.edu/IPUMS-Survey).
Please tell us what you ❤️ about IPUMS and what could be improved.
Your response helps us report to funders and plan for the future.

NEW: In Census Bureau surveys, Brazilians in the U.S. are not considered Latino due to the federal government’s definition of the term. But a coding error in a recent bureau survey provided insight into how many Brazilians identify that way. 1/4 pewresearch.org/fact-tank/20…
