Dylan Larkin is not a quitter and again he’s a human being that deserves respect.
There comes a point in professional sports when we need to remember that underneath the jersey, underneath the expectations, and underneath the pressure is a human being with feelings, emotions, a family, and a life beyond hockey.
Today, we want to stand up for Dylan Larkin.
For over a decade, Dylan Larkin gave everything he had to the Detroit Red Wings. He represented his hometown organization with pride, carried the responsibility of wearing the captain’s “C,” and continued showing up through some incredibly difficult seasons.
Now, because of his decision to seek a new chapter in his career, some fans and members of the media are questioning his loyalty, his leadership, and even his character.
We strongly disagree with those personal attacks.
You can disagree with Dylan’s decision to stop playing while awaiting a trade. You can be disappointed with how things have unfolded. Those feelings are understandable.
But calling someone a quitter and questioning the person they are because of a hockey decision crosses a line.
Nobody outside Dylan’s closest circle truly knows everything he’s experienced emotionally throughout this situation.
This is a young man who grew up dreaming of wearing the Detroit Red Wings jersey. He didn’t just play for the organization. He lived that dream.
And while this chapter may not end the way anyone imagined, it should never erase the years of dedication, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment he gave to Detroit.
Dylan Larkin doesn’t need thousands of people tearing him down right now. He needs people who recognize his humanity.
To Dylan, we hope you understand that there are hockey fans across North America who still believe in you, respect you, and appreciate everything you’ve accomplished.
Your value as a person will never be determined by a hockey game, a trade request, or the opinions of people on social media.
And to every young hockey player watching this situation unfold, remember something important:
You can disagree with someone’s decisions without destroying their character. You can be disappointed in an athlete without forgetting they’re a human being.
Dylan Larkin has given so much to the game of hockey, and we believe he still has so much more to give.
Wherever his journey takes him next, we hope he finds happiness, peace, and the opportunity to fall in love with the game all over again.
Sometimes the strongest thing we can do for someone isn’t to judge the chapter they’re closing, but to support the person who has to find the courage to begin another.
We’ve yet to hear from Dylan Larkin on what is going on and until we hear his story we should all be careful on what we say about this situation. Dylan has earned that respect from us hockey fans.
From all of us at the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast, we’re wishing Dylan Larkin and his family nothing but the very best.

The 2 dumbest guys on the planet are at it again wasting good air…
Just when u thought they couldn’t say anything stupider, they go ahead and say something stupider
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
For Connor McDavid to be completely the best player in the @NHL he’s going to need to win the @StanleyCup and he knows that.
Winning the Cup will put him there but right now Nathan MacKinnon is the number one player in the league.
Nathan is a better 2 two-way player, he takes all of his face offs and he’s added fighting for himself to his tool box.
Nate Dawg is the total package in what you want for the best player in the world.
Getting the most amount of points or assists doesn’t make you the best player in the National Hockey League.
You can’t hide the fact that Connor McDavid has walked out of the rink with 0 points in games in which he could have won the Cup or the Gold.
He’s a great player and he’s done a lot for the game.
Do you not see Hyman get cross checked on the back of the neck while sliding on his knees??
Just curious as to see ur opinion. And from that response I can gauge the level of stupidity of u guys
I already know that answer from ur past tweets but im curious here as well
Give @TrippTracy tons of respect for speaking the truth and facts on this situation from last night game between the @Canes vs @EdmontonOilers !
This isn’t talked about enough in the @NHL and it’s nice to hear someone speaking up on this.

A follow up statement probably would have been…
“ I think they play with each other already… “
Troy Stecher on Saturday's game in Edmonton:
"The two best players in the world going against each other. All-Canadian matchup. It's one of the reasons you play the game. It's going to be a fun one."
@BarDown
3rd in the entire NHL in scoring
That’s not scoring amongst defensemen.
YES… That’s 3rd in the entire NHL in scoring

Ohhhh it’s been GRAND watching these “Bouch sucks” troop slowly become more and more silent.
Wait til he coughs up a bad pass up the ice or nails a shin pad and it goes back for a breakaway. Cant wait for these guys to come out retirement
Evan Bouchard is 2nd in the league in points with 11, and leads the NHL in the goals with 6, as a defensemen…
This is a player that is constantly argued as NOT a top 10 defensemen in the NHL.
The switch up on Evan Bouchard has been funny to see 😅 stay on that side.

Where’d the “Bouch sucks” guys go? You guys were everywhere…
Don’t worry… if Bouch made me look that stupid day in and day out, I’d probably stay quiet as well.

At 5-on-5 this season, Evan Bouchard has now been on the ice for 11 goals for and only 1 against. #LetsGoOilers

Pens clearly have a surplus of forwards. That said, moving on from Filip Hallander seems excessive - arguably far too excessive
