Investment in public health in Ireland has shot up. Between 2014 and 2024, health spending per person rose from €3,666 to €5,245, an increase of 43%. And that figure strips out inflation so it's a real increase. No wonder Irish people are among the world's longest living! 🇮🇪👏

Ciara told us all it was coming, but Ireland is reeling at the speed and finality of her departure.. and heartbroken at her loss. Our champ and 'wee dote' has left the arena. Thinking especially of her husband, family and friends. #Ciara

Ian McKellen reciting Shakespeare's writing on racist anti-immigration riots in London during his time. It is excellent. They have been banging the same drum for 400 years.

Here’s my prediction: 🏛️ HOUSE: Democrats will pick up roughly 20 to 25 seats — potentially a 45 seat advantage over Republicans (240-195). 🏛️ SENATE: Democrats will pick up 4 to 5 seats — enough for a 51 or 53 seat majority. But forecasts don’t vote. YOU DO. Show up. Bring someone with you. VOTE BLUE and finish the job. 🌊 #BlueWaveIn4Days #VoteBlue

Tomorrow, when you see the front pages of the right-wing press telling you how dreadful the budget was, remember their track record. Also remember that right-wingers won’t ever be happy with any budget that doesn’t push down on those at the bottom to benefit those at the top.

Let's try something. I am an Israeli Jew, and nothing would make me happier than to see a "national unity" government of Arabs and Jews. If you agree, please like, reply, quote, share... You know what to do. Thank you!

Bad weekend for authoritarian and illiberal politicians with Bolsonaro🇧🇷 and Vucic defeated 🇷🇸. Serbia's path to the EU (and NATO if they want to) is open. All eyes on Israel 🇮🇱 tomorrow and the United States 🇺🇸next week. Elections count and are decided by those who show up. 🗳️🍿

I try so hard to love our national broadcaster the BBC..they make some quality programming. But my god.....where do I start? Mohammed Yusuf said yesterday that he'd use the Royal Navy to use "lethal force" on migrants. Outrageous. Disgusting actually. Next day, the BBC invites him on primetime breakfast to defend it. He's not an elected politician. He's basically a talking head. All paid for by licence fee payers. Why does the BBC keep platforming Reform UK?

Claude Malhuret Was Right about Trump. On Friday, at Trump's direction, the US Treasury issued a license waving Russian diesel back onto the world market, days after Russia killed dozens of Ukrainians, many of them children. It seems a good moment to revisit the speech in which a French senator told us exactly who these people were. Claude Malhuret took the floor of the Luxembourg Palace and delivered what may be the most surgical dismantling of the Trump administration ever spoken in a legislative chamber. There were no diplomatic niceties, only a point-by-point indictment from an ally who had clearly had enough. "A year ago, here in France, I compared Trump's presidency to Nero's Court. I was wrong. It's the Court of Miracles. An anti-vaxxer, former heroin addict as Minister of Health," he began, meaning RFK Jr. Then came the rest of the cabinet: "A climate-skeptic Minister of Economy. An alcoholic TV host, Minister of the Armed Forces. An old Qatar agent, Minister of Justice. A groupie of Putin, Minister of National Security." That would be Scott Bessent, Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi and Tulsi Gabbard. "A Turkish proverb says: when a clown settles in a palace, he does not become king, it is the palace that becomes a circus." The circus has been busy. Trump came off a phone call with Putin and announced on Truth Social that Russia would send millions of tons of diesel to the world market, promising in capital letters that prices "will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST!" Bessent's Treasury promptly made it legal, barely a month after Trump signed a sweeping Russia sanctions law, as NPR points out. The motive is not hard to find. Diesel prices in America have doubled since the war with Iran began in February and the midterms are weeks away, so the man who set the fuel market on fire is now buying the extinguisher from Vladimir Putin and sending the bill to Ukraine. According to Axios, Kyiv was blindsided while Witkoff and Kushner were sitting with Ukrainian officials to discuss ending the war, and an analyst told the outlet the volumes are too small to fix the shortage anyway. So Putin gets revenue and respectability, Americans may or may not get cheaper diesel, and Ukrainians get more missiles. Zelensky called it weakness from partners who are supposed to be strong, which is the polite version. Malhuret gave us the impolite one long ago, and he has been proved right down to the last clown. Watch the speech and share it loudly. Stay connected,
