ST EXCLUSIVE: straitstimes.com/sport/shock… It is my understanding that Valere Germain who played and scored v Sailors, was meant to be serving a three-match ban in AFC comps. Awaiting official confirmation on the matter from AFC, who I believe are looking into it.

Geylang International are top of the table. 13 points from 5 matches. 12 scored, 2 conceded. Eagles soaring and it does feel like Noor Ali’s side have a few more gears in them. Sets us up for an exciting Eastern derby this weekend. 1st v 2nd (Tampines who are a point behind)

Yet another red card for Hougang United. Very, very silly from Milos Drincic. Cheetahs have had four red cards in 5 matches. Set for their fourth consecutive loss too.

Damaging few weeks for FC Jurong who had pledged to fight for the title. Showed fight in the second half but not enough. Very early days but six points behind league leaders Tampines Rovers, who’ve played a game less.

Some effort from Yuki Kobayashi…..on his weaker foot as well.

Always a good feeling to see Shawal Anuar on the score sheet.

Very, very forgettable 90 minutes in the @SGPremierLeague Poor quality from both sides. But think Balestier have shown plenty of spirit in recent weeks despite missing some key players.

An hour in and Geylang not able to find a breakthrough against Balestier, who are missing a few starters. Game is there to be won. Crying out for an adventurous substitution. Taniguchi for Yoshioka or Ogawa?

Started the season very well in that 2-2 draw with LCS but it’s gotten worse for Hougang since then. 3 consecutive losses. 7 goals conceded in that spell. Early days but much to ponder…..

Absolutely cruel for Tampines Rovers. Machida win it with literally the last kick of the game. That’ll be tough to swallow but thought the local players stood tall against elite oppo: Shah Shahiran, Syazwan Buhari, and especially Irfan Fandi and Jacob Mahler in defence. 💔

Irfan Fandi at the right place, at the right time so far in that half 👀 Against top level J.League opposition as well. Tampines holding Machida Zelvia at half time.

How it’s gone for Hougang United so far…..

Heartbroken to hear that Nur Adam has torn his ACL. One of the players whose stock has continued to rise and rise. A position we didn’t have to worry about. More importantly gutted for him. One of the most genuine individuals in local football. Wishing him speedy recovery.
